Anyone here have strong thoughts about it?

I got it for $42.39 during the Barnes & Noble eBay Screw-up of 2015.
It was such a deal I still admire it in its sealed beauty daily.

I think I'm going to tackle World on a Wire soon since I just finished Solaris. Maybe I'll do it and Solaris with Commentary in a double feature late night showing.

Some people find BA challenging to watch and some find it a pleasure. Like most Fassbinder, I personally think it takes a while to get going, but when it does, you're really invested.

Great set, Ray. Easily worth $50. The book is a masterpiece as well. I'd recommend both with no qualms.

I have such a queue of Criterions that it may be a while. My New Year's Resolution was to get through 200 first-time Criterion watches in 2016. I'm at 19 for January right now.

There is no rhyme or reason to what I watch. Sometimes it is mood. Sometimes new releases. Sometimes pretty packaging. Following Aaron and Mark's Criterion Close-up podcast helps me hit some I might have otherwise skipped.

Berlin Alexanderplatz is a major time investment for one title. But, if you double dog dare me to watch it by a certain date, then that's as good as reason as any.

Kinda strange I remember I saw Muholland Dr. In the theater remembering that was the first time seeing on the screen Watts and Harring. Watts became a Oscar level actor and Harring I don't think I've ever seen again.. It parallels the movie.

I remembered Watts from Tank Girl in 1995, and Harring was in John Q, The punisher The Shield (on TV) and some other stuff, but no leading roles.

Is it abnormal for a criterion to come without the stickers? I've ordered a few from Amazon and eBay that have arrived without the sticker

I can tell you for a fact that places like Barnes and Noble do re-wrap returned Criterions and put them back on the shelves.

The copy of The Big City that I returned a few weeks ago because it had a badly damaged case and was clearly a re-wrap job, was then re-wrapped again and put back on the shelves a couple weeks later.

I know because I recognized the dents on the case, which were identical to the dents on the one I returned.

...don't know if those re-wrap jobs show on places like ebay.

I have received blus from Criterion.com that don't have the sticker , the shrink wraps does vary a bit from item to item, so not really sure if those are necessarily re-wrapped.

My Throne of Blood came with its wrapping ripped today but it had its sticker (and the case is perfectly fine, thank god).

Indeed, but everything else was canceled on me. Alexanderplatz was worth it. Beautiful set.

The prices have finally come down on Amazon for the February and March titles - $23 a piece for the regular priced ones, $28 for Emigrants. Jumped on Emigrants (simply cannot wait the extra month for the flash sale on this one) and Brighter Summer's Day (as it will be coming after the flash sale in all likelihood).
