Yeah, unfortunately it doesn't sort out the online ones from the released ones. That would be interesting to see what they're streaming only and see what ends up being released in the future. I remember them streaming The Brood for a long time and I didn't think it would ever be released. Man of Aran was streaming for 2 years almost. I had no idea they even acquired it until accidentally coming across the stream on Amazon. The Homevision DVD looks to definitely be out of print. They need to grab Louisiana Story and do a 3 pack with Nanook and Aran.

As for now, Gomorrah, Ride in the Whirlwind and The Private life of Henry VIII are free for Prime subscribers.

Just watched my first Fassbinder last night, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul. I didn't think it was unbelievably amazing, but I did like it...
Just curious if most people think that's his best, or prefer others? I was curious about World on a Wire.

I like Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, but I don't sing its praises like many others around these parts. Out of the four on Blu-ray, I'd say The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant is his best, but of course that is subjective.

I still think Fassbinder's BRD Trilogy is his best stuff, but that's just my personal taste.

Do give World on a Wire a try though. It's very good sci-fi.

Bitter Tears is for the hardcore faithful imo.

RIP Paul Kantner, one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane, who passed away January 28 at the age of 74. I haven't seen the Monterrey Pop set in awhile and don't remember for certain but since Jefferson Airplane performed there in 1967 I will wager he is in the Criterion Collection with his band mates. JA was also at Altamont in 1969. Two concerts less than two years apart that could not be more different and are like two manifestations of the beginning and the end of late 1960s youth culture.

Oddly enough and a weird coincidence on the exact same day, the original female singer of Jefferson Airplane also passed away. Signe Anderson,who left the band after its first record to be replaced by Grace Slick, was also 74.

I didnt like the second hour as much but I would comfortably say that the first hour is amongst the best hours of cinema I have ever seen

I mostly think of him for being the driving force behind the first "Jefferson Starship" album (a few years before the band took on that name) Blows Against the Empire, which was also the first science fiction concept album. I also liked his follow-up SFCA, Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra.

Roeg also did a TV movie in the 90s called "Full Body Massage" with Mimi Rogers. She's topless for a good portion of the movie and she is, let's just say, unbelievably well-endowed. Not a good movie, and Roeg had clearly lost his touch at that point, but it's noteworthy for Mimi Rogers.

I did better with Bitter Tears than Ali. I watched All That Heaven Allows the night before and thought Ali was going to be ATHA II Electric Boogaloo. Wrong...more like Harold and Maude except remove all the funny parts and the parts that don't suck.
