Probably not in May but by the end of 2016 (November?). A Short Film About Killing is already on HULU.

I can only hope for an upgrade of Short Cuts or The Long Good Friday. Probably won't happen this year though.

With Arrow's announcement of Kobayashi's The Human Condition, It would be grand if Criterion announces their version. I've only heard good things about this Trilogy.

If for no other reason than to save me from buying both versions.

Criterion usually hits it out of the park with their supplements, so if I had to choose, it would be Criterion.

Barcelona is my favorite of the Stillmans. I feel that Metropolitan, while good, was just a warm-up for Barcelona. I was looking forward to but ended up being disappointed with The Last Days of Disco. Maybe I should revisit it but the movie just left me feeling irritated.

Anyway, I would recommend Barcelona. Chris Eigeman is great in it.

I really like this film and I don't own the Demy set, so I'd consider the UK release.

I have to admit - I was prepared to tell you that whatever it is you think you see in these caps is phooey. To me, however, it is glaringly apparent that you are 100% right. The CC release is grainier and the detail on her fur collar in the Studio Canal cap is smudgy.

I don't think I've ever ruled out purchasing a blu-ray that got great PQ reviews based on my own interpretation of a screen shot, but the example you cited here is quite bad.

I mean, not watch it a 2nd time and re-evaluate, but re-evaluating just thinking about the first time you felt you didn't like it..
I think it has happened to me now with the first Ozu I saw:
An Autumn Afternoon
Yes, I'd say that it has happened often. I was sure I'd love Jules and Jim after really not liking it after a first watch and I did. I saw There Will Be Blood at an 11 PM screening the week it came out. Too late for such a long film. I didn't connect with it, but couldn't wait to see it again and have loved it more with each subsequent watch.

As I'm sure you know, I really like AAA, so I can see that happening. On the surface, there doesn't seem to be much going on, but it really is a confidently paced and very warm film. Hope you enjoy it more during your second watch!

I wonder if people's opinions play an underground role psychologically in persuading someone that he did like the film that he didn't like at first.

I didn't notice Deadpool. You can't joke about these things on announcement day. It's like an unspoken rule of Fight Club.

I think if it is someone's opinion who you really respect, then yes. My wife and I tend to agree on just about everything we watch together. She won't watch anything too "artsy," but she'll end up picking apart more mainstream fare in the same way that I do and we usually walk away feeling the same way about a film.

I think our own pre-conceived ideas about what a film will be like can hinder our enjoyment of a film more than anything. It could take an entire viewing and then some reflection to actually get past it.

Oh my goodness, I was an extra in The Forger. Being an aspiring filmmaker myself, it'd be pretty swell to be able to say that I was already in the Criterion Collection!
