Never seen The Player but it'll be a day one purchase. Huge fan of Altman.

Add my voice to the ones that didn't like Easy Rider, although it's highly acclaimed.
I have changed my mind reflecting upon films I saw and didn't like the first time, but I don't think I'll change my mind about this.

Maybe if I was an American, I would "get" it more? I don't know.

As for The Player, another film that left me cold, although I've seen it once in my teens.

Great announcements!

Already have Easy Rider as part of the excellent BBS box-set but I will buying all of the other announced titles. The Player will be an upgrade though as I already own it as part of this set:

A very good month. I'm definitely getting the Wenders trilogy and the Bogart film, own Easy Rider already and will test drive The Naked Island on Hulu. I've never seen The Player so I'll need to research that one further. Now that we have a Bogart/Columbia film in the CC hopefully more like The Harder They Fall, Dead Reckoning, and Sahara will follow.

Outstanding line-up! One of the very best in a long, long time.

I am very much looking forward to the new restoration of Wrong Movie. Previous releases have been unimpressive.

Second best month this year so far (behind March). In for everything but Easy Rider since I own it via the BBS set.

I wonder what the packaging will be like for this. Similar to Apu with the digipak or like the Rock Box/Hitch/Stillman with individual cases and the slip?
At $100 it is priced the same as Apu.

I own the same set and I'm pretty sure I don't need to double-dip. Very pumped about In a Lonely Place, though. These are the kinds of months I love, where there's one new release that I really, really want, and not much else to tempt me.

But ... but ... one of the posters displayed in Tim Robbins' office in The Player is the one-sheet of Gene Tierney in Laura. So how could anyone not automatically love the film and admire Tim's character in it?

The only Wenders film that I've seen has been Paris, Texas which I really enjoyed. It seems that Wenders and this trilogy of films in particular is universally loved, so I hope to have the opportunity to check it out.

I've never seen In a Lonely Place, but I'll blind buy it based on Bogart and Ray.

For me, nothing can top the month in which we get Bicycle Thieves and another Yang film, but these seem interesting.

I'll probably blind-buy In a Lonely Place (or see if I can get a DVD copy at my local library), as I do love Bogie. I've heard about the Road Trilogy, but I think I want to check the films out before I go for the set (I believe they're on Hulu). The only other one I'm somewhat interested in is The Player. Nothing's a must for me, but I'm definitely interested in a few of the titles.

Wenders, Ray and Shindo for me. A terrific month!

I've been waiting for The Naked Island ever since I saw it projected on the big screen. It's a wonderfully realized film shot entirely on location where only 2-3 words are spoken in the film.

I've not seen all the road films but I have seen Alice in the Cities and it's a great film. Beautiful b&w and the ending is very well done. In a Lonely Place is a must.

I last saw The Player nearly 10 years ago. It's enjoyable but not something I'd own. The film makes a lot of references to the classics and I kept wondering why I wasn't watching those films instead.

I wouldn't even talk about individual months anymore, when 2016 is shaping up to be an incredible year. A Brighter Summer Day in March, Every Tarkovsky title being released on Blu, a 4K restoration of Ran, Bicycle Thieves on Blu, Human Condition on Blu, A Touch of Zen on Blu... and we still have 10 more months of global announcements!

yeah, definitely. I hope that The Human Condition is received warmly by the folks who review these releases. If that's the case, then I won't wait for Criterion.

Tarkovsky always intrigues me, so I hope those are nice releases as well.

Wait... Gloria Grahame is not on the cover of In a Lonely Place. WTF?

I'm just going to stick with my DVD now. Screw you, Criterion!

(Actually, I keep re-checking the Criterion page for In a Lonely Place, just to make sure that I didn't just daydream about the announcement.)
