Same here. I didn't think that the Revanche page would freeze up, but it's down just like everything else on the site.

This is ridiculous. If you're going to do two sales a year, have the server capacity to satisfy the demand. Been trying for nearly half an hour to place an order.

Yes because a site that spikes thousands of percent in traffic for a few hours should definitely pay to have that infrastructure year round... give me a break.

Its great of Criterion to regularly have these sales in the first place. Even BN had trouble in the past with criterion sale starts.

Hrm, well I'm not really a fan of musicals at all, no matter the language. I'm leaning towards Cassavetes right now, still not completely sure.

You do know that service providers can temporarily increase bandwidth allowances when a corporation's site is going to realize a huge spike, I assume?

Because the site is being bull rushed by everybody. I've been trying to enter my order for a little over 40 minutes.

After waiting patiently for the site to settle down, got Inside Llewyn Davis and Moonrise Kingdom, finally.

I may not be able to get The BBS story, but I got The Graduate, Mulholland Drive and Ikiru to make up for my first flash order. And I manage to get free shipping, even with my $10 credit, so I win.

Part of me wonders if it's premature of me to use the $10 credit.

Don't forget Anthony Mann.

I have to agree with the comments regarding Rio Bravo, though. It's one of those films that seems to fail on so many levels, while still being quite watchable.

As for the subject at hand, I find I don't hate that many movies. I tend to have a good enough idea of my likes and dislikes that I tend to avoid movies that I don't think I'll like. Of the various movies that have gotten praise here, the one that I don't "get" is There Will Be Blood. I've liked or loved other PTA films, but when I watched this one, I just kind of scratched my head, wondering what the fuss was all about. There are definitely things I liked about it, and everything about it seemed right up my alley, but it just ended up not working for me.

In recent years, the two movies that I can say I well and truly hated that other people seemed to like if not love are District 9 and Man of Steel. In the former case, I thought the protagonist was a loathsome human being, and felt no sympathy for him. In the latter case, I thought the film was 2½ hours of misery.

Depends on the architecture and the service provider. Some applications don't scale as well like that.

Ouch... There goes my budget.

In addition to my first order that I placed before the crash...

The Graduate
The Kid
I Knew Her Well
The Emigrants/The New Land

I went back to the site after the crash and ordered...

If....
Kuroneko
The Devil's Backbone
Au Revoir Les Enfants
The Complete Lady Snowblood
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

$209.70 was the final damage of this Flash Sale.

I used to own Kuroneko and Au Revoir Les Enfants on DVD, and had sold the DVDs years ago with the intent of upgrading both films to Blu-ray. It took me this long to get around to it, though.

I figure that the Criterion site is my only chance to get a decent undamaged box of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
