I thought about pulling the trigger on Berlin Alexanderplatz today, but I just couldn't do it.

$55 (with shipping) for a dvd blind buy is a lot.

I'm sure I would like it...maybe even love it.

But honestly, how often am I going to watch a 15 hour German television series?

Once...maybe twice?

Then it just sits there on my bookshelf for the next several years taking up space.

And the blu-ray transfer gets announced within two months of my dvd purchase.

...of that much I'm certain.

Anyone hoping for a Berlin Alexanderplatz blu-ray restoration should pray that I change my mind on this.

I'll wait a bit, as it plays pretty often on HD Net, so I have it sit on my DVR on and off. But I want to own it. If it's not re-issued soon, I'll break down and shell out the bucks.
As Good As It Gets is literally available everywhere. Region Free too. You may as well save a few bucks and just grab one of them.

It's been available on blu since 2013 in Japan so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it gets an upgrade in other regions as well.

Earlier today, before I found out about the Flash Sale...
I ordered Coming to America, Trading Places, Back to School, and Ms. 45 from Deep Discount DVD to take advantage of their 15% off sale.
I ordered Crypt of the Living Dead from Vinegar Syndrome.
I bought Spotlight from the Target store down the street during lunch.

I had a surprisingly big day myself. In addition to my Criterion order, I also snagged a copy of American Horror Project Vol. 1.

I am finally box set complete (except Janus 50 film set and Eclipse sets).
I picked up:
Pigs, Pimps & Prostitutes: 3 Films by Shohei Imamura
Letters from Fontainhas: Three Films by Pedro Costa
Twenty-four Eyes

With my $50 gift certificate I was only out $57.13.

Ordered The American Friend as a blind buy, and Classic Hitchcock. I already have Foreign Correspondent, but the Hitch set is such a bargain at $47 it makes perfect sense to pick it up. Selling the extra copy of Foreign Correspondent only sweetens the deal.

You are going to have fun fun fun fun fun!

I watched all three movies in Arrow's American Horror Project: Vol. 1 set this weekend, and even went through all of the extras. It's a great Blu-ray purchase across the board. The booklet in the set is particularly amazing, with its thorough history of exploitation cinema.

Scored a couple of Criterion DVDs for $3 each at Goodwill. Some questions for the knowledgeable experts here:

The packaging is weird on both.

- For "The Earrings of Madame de," the foldout disc-holder and booklet go in from the left of the bookcase packaging, not the right as usual. Is this missing any other packaging?

- "La Ronde" has only the foldout disc-holder. It's sealed (but likely a re-seal, if I had to guess). No bookcase or any other type of cover. Is that the complete packaging, or am I missing anything?

I'm happy just to score Criterions at these prices, so I'll take what I can get, but definitely curious if anything's missing.

Thanks!

Picked up Late Ozu Eclipse series and An Autumn Afternoon. With the $10 gift certificate I had, the final price came out to $44. Not bad.

Of COURSE the sale comes the day after I decide to pay a theatre rental.
Had to keep it super small today with just The Graduate and The Kid. It felt terrible deleting Gilda from my cart
