it should be a little different as Criterion is licensing it from Rialto.
No Criterion bd will ever be the exact same as a Studio Canal release most likely because Studio Canal is actively taking away licensing rights from Criterion, like what happened with "The Third Man".
Ok, I saw the screencaps from StudioCanal yesterday and it got me a little anxious (in a good way )

Well, you wouldn't be the first to think so, Jedi. I've had many followers in my lifetime, but this time it was just a simple matter of mathematics from the information already presented.

So, don't go drinking the Kool-Aid just yet.

I mentioned it earlier (12 pages ago ) but things like the Cassevette's collector's set which has 6 films, is $99 on Criterion's site (so $16.50 a film.... ) Even if you don't count "A Constant Forge" (which, at 3 hours long, I don't know how you wouldn't count it as it's own film) the 5 films at $99 equates to $20 each......

So I don't see how a new Hollywood set would come out to $32 per film for 4, 5, 6 or whatever number of films they include.... I imagine $20-$25 each.....

So no worries about the $200+ price for me at least.

EDIT:

Just look at the war trilogies, Pigs, Pimps, and Prostitutes.... , 4 by Agnes Varda, 6 Moral Tales, etc etc etc

Yes, but you're still referring to a DVD boxset... not blu-ray, which we already know from Criterion's statements that their cost for manufacturing blu-rays is significantly higher than those of their DVD counterparts... even before they recently dropped the pricing on their DVDs.

So, let's say it's $25 per disc @ 7 discs would equal $175 for the set. How's that for now?

let's start wondering what it'll be on B&N sale (hopefully it'll be included in the sale) in Nov/Dec.

$140 during the sale? $150?

I'm curious. Because the more significant Criterion sales happen several times a year on Barnes & Noble, Deep Discount and Amazon (and possibly other sites), has this changed your buying habits for Criterion Collection?

Are you willing to purchase a Criterion release while it's new and pay retail or do you now purchase these releases during these sales only?

Wait for The Sale or sub 20 dollar sale from Amazon/DDD. And yes, that's a change.

I have everything available to pre-order already purchased via Amazon...... I'll cancel them if a sale is announced prior to their release.... otherwise, they just "show up" in my mail-box.... and new charges just "appear" on my credit-card

I'm with Beta... I keep up with the releases so I don't have to throw down all that money at monce for a bunch of back-logged blu-rays that I've missed out on. It's easier for me to spread out a bit more money over the months than to spend it all at one time.

Plus, unlike some people, I actually watch the discs when I receive them instead of putting them in storage for my retirement.

I always wait for a sale. I'm a student with no job so I obviously can't spend as much as most of you guys do.

I pre-order all of the ones I want, and don't buy the ones I don't want. Simple as that. Sales are for things in the past (boxsets, etc) I still want.

I don't like to buy a whole bunch of stuff at once, because like CC said, I try to watch things as soon as I get them.

Same theory as CG...but now that I'm a B & N member...with the 20% discount and $5.00 coups, it's usually cheaper than Amazon and BB on most new releases.

The only one I'm biting on this month is Crumb...Sept. is a different story.

Yeah I must say I am holding off on some August titles I want for right now. Need to find a job.
