I doubt it could get better than last year's release, but if they do release it my guess would be in 3 or four years from now, maybe in UHD disc if they are releasing those by then.

I'm glad to see Limelight get so much praise in the thread. It was my pick for "Best New Spine" and "Best Release of 2015" in Shell's end of year poll, and is my favorite Chaplin film. Nobody does bittersweet quite like him.

Yep, the latest version of Spartacus looks superb, to the point where I don't feel a Criterion double-dip is warranted. I still have my Criterion DVD with it too, which appears to still be in print if you want those extras.

Has anybody here ever heard the Criterion Collection directly referenced in a film or TV show? Just curious. I've only encountered it once, on the HBO comedy Eastbound and Down where the main character, Kenny Powers, gives a DVD copy of the 6th season of Friends to someone and tells them it's the "Criterion Collections" edition (yes, Collections plural).

Maybe, they were saying it as "Criterion Collection's edition," making that edition belonging to the Criterion Collection?

Nah, the context of the quote was a little different. I actually found the clip on YouTube, but for some reason I'm having issues linking here, but just type "Kenny Powers Loves the Criterion Collection" in YouTube, that's the name of the video. Pretty funny stuff.

I've broke down and pre-ordered a couple of titles during the current Amazon.com sale. I know it's not the best deal, but it was nice to pre-order them at a lower price. I ordered In a Lonely Place and The Kennedy Films of Robert Drew & Associates. Excited about both releases, but more so the Kennedy set I think. Either way, looking forward to their release.

Pardon if I'm late, but what's this I've been hearing about Criterion distributing some Warner titles?

Thank you in advance.

I've moved titles in and out of Amazon and B&N for pre-orders all morning. Both have most of the new titles around the $27 mark.

I pre-ordered Paris Belongs to Us and Brighter Summer Day from Amazon back in January for $23 vs. current pricing. Right now I'm holding off to see if any titles dip a few more bucks before pulling the trigger.

I received a couple of 20% coupons from B&N that I have to use by 3/27, but they're not eligible for pre-orders.

So far they've licensed:

Badlands
Whit Stillman Trilogy
Day for Night
My Own Private Idaho
The Emigrants
The New Land

There's been rumors of a pre-code release.

I had The Player on my list initially too, but that didn't come from Warner from what I read since their name, nor New Line is on the press sheet.

A week or so ago, Pedro mentioned Black Orpheus as a great under the radar title... I watched the trailer on YouTube and it looks like it could be a great film. Anyone else out there care to share some spoiler free thoughts on it, good or bad?

It's a really good film and a fascinating take on the Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

It's one of those films that takes you by surprise. The LD was one of my earliest Criterion blind-buys. Bought it again on DVD, and again on BD.

I do remember that, it's actually two different scenes. The other one is where he yells at someone to stop touching his Criterions (at the end of the video below, following the scene you describe)

Off the top of my head I can't remember any other direct reference to the Criterion Collection in a movie or v show. "Me, Earl and the Dying Girl" did feature a lot of films from the collection though, in various forms.

In "While We're Young", there's also a stack of fake Criterions on a counter (they were fictional titles from a character's films in the movie).
