Same here. I've watched plenty of films in Technicolor and had no problems, but the color fluctuations in Black Narcissus did not sit well with me.

In my time at Blockbuster, I had people threaten me with violence over a late fee - more than once. I have personally been called every indecent term in the book, just for informing someone they had a fee. I'm talking some vile words exchanged, here. On more than one occasion, I had female customers offer to flash me their breasts if I would remove their fees (I only wish I was making this stuff up.)

I had violence and people use vile words in front of their little kids (in which some days I got back at them), but never had anyone offer to flash for the late fees to be removed. That's a new one. Maybe that was some late 90's thing to do.

Another assistant manager I worked with was once bombarded with racial and sexual orientation slurs, and then physically attacked over a $4 fee. To make the situation worse, he then lost his job because he defended himself and fought back and shoved the woman to the ground. He was also tagged with an assault charge and given a 30-day sentence in jail. Yet she came across the counter with no provocation and was throwing punches. He had a bloody lip and a swollen eye, and all she had was a supposed small bruise on her behind. All because he had refused to remove the fee because she had been given credits on her last 5 rentals - ALL RETURNED LATE!

Did you all have cameras? If I was that guy I would of made them look at them. Or if not, I would of done something to make me deserve that 30 days in jail.

We had cameras, but the whole situation ended up bad for this guy. The person who had opened that morning did not switch the tape, so the camera did not capture any of the incident.

He wasn't given an actual trial, just a court appearance where he was sentenced, so none of us who were in the store were able to testify on his behalf as witnesses. The company turned their backs on him, and the police purposefully wrote up the report to paint him as the bad guy.

In my honest opinion, it was because the store was located in a predominately "white", highly conservative neighborhood, and this guy was not only black, but also openly gay. Not, "Look at me I need attention and I dress funny" kind of gay, but his boyfriend had come in the store with him a few times to pick out a movie. The police in that area are particularly bad, though. One night, him and I both got off of work at the same time, and my car was in the shop, so I asked him for a lift home. On the way, the cops pulled us over for no reason, but did not even attempt to search me, and only asked me to get out of the car so they could dig through the glove compartment. It was blatantly racist, and not a single one of the officers from the three police cruisers that showed up to search and harass one single black guy in a Blockbuster uniform seemed to care.

Nope. After he finished getting his degree, he moved out of state. Can't say I blame him.

What kind of nonsense is that? How would he just get a court appearance with sentence? I thought that was illegal. Unless of course he pled guilty and took a plea bargin.

Oh geez! I wish that there weren't a number of BDs coming out that I want in the next couple of months...I just bought Crumb and there are at least 2-3 others that I want to buy on their release dates.

I want that silents set, but am tempted to wait until the next sale in November...wish they were coming out on blu.

I had to buy Crumb...not only a very interesting doc about an insane genius, but a film that I saw in a small theater in Soho (NYC) when it was first released.

It was a misdemeanor assault charge that just went in front of a judge, sans a jury. Without the security tape, he had no way to prove he didn't attack first. He took the 30 day sentence so he could be done and over with it. Especially after his prior dealings with the police force involved in the case.

I can wait that long. Even if I want them early, it isn't going to be a prob of just ordering them off Criterion's site at anytime. But still, I don't know if I want to pre-order or wait until the sale. I got a few days to decide.
