So it's expected to get to you today, and it's on time, but it still hasn't shipped?

TheGreatOwl, I show the exact same status.
Here is the chat I had last evening with Amazon. Quote:

Santa Claus will delivery my copy of Chungking Express before Amazon does. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but if I had a Magic Eight Ball, and shook it, the response would be: Quote:

I want to believe this is simply an example of one hand not knowing what the other is doing, but it seems improbable to me that their inventory system, as thorough as it is, would just spontaneously spit out x amount of copies of a movie for sale if they didn't have it. When Tokyo Story was on sale in December, and they didn't get any in, it's because the Digi was no longer being issued, and that's what I'd bought. It was replaced by the Scanavo case. This film has been out of print for several months now, if what I've been reading is accurate. We shall see, won't we, guys? |

From our perspective we know it is unlikely these will ship: OOP Criterion...fetches high dollar on eBay...$30ish sale price (less than MSRP)
From Amazon's perspective this is a number of a little round disk in their system. I think it is some sort of glitch in their inventory system. Has even one person received a copy? |

I just got off a chat with another rep at Amazon. He checked their complete warehouse inventory across the US, and they have zero copies. Zero. And that's a problem, because twelve hours ago, another rep guaranteed delivery by 8 pm. Somewhere, their system, or their training, is at fault, and it reflects poorly on them. Yet, still we're being told that one of their suppliers is promising a shipment. I told them them need to overhaul their system, because if they don't have something in hand, they should not be selling. Period. And, the fact that they don't charge until the item is shipped is irrelevant. When the biggest supplier on Earth says they have something, as difficult as it may be to believe, I take them at face value. |

No. Amazon does not typically charge my bank account until an item has shipped.
In my own personal ledger, though, I always deduct the money from my bank account as soon as I place an order, a pre-order, or whatever. In my eyes, it's a done deal the split second that I hit the "Submit Order" button on a website, and I enter the payment as such in my ledger just to let me know that the money is, in concept, no longer there. That way, I always know in my head how much disposable income I have left to use, instead of relying on what the bank website shows me. So, in this sense, I'll enter the Amazon cancellation into my ledger when I get home, and "add" that $39 back into my account. I'm old-school that way. The downside is that this can sometimes be a pain in the neck if Amazon ends up charging me less for an item than what the price was when I pre-ordered, but I simply add the difference into my account later on. |

Also, the person I talked with told me the name of the third party vendor, but I didn't quite catch the spelling right because it was not a normal word. Maybe someone else could get that and do some detective work to find their phone number.
It started with an r....lol I think it ended in "as" |
