Aren't we overdue for another Eclipse Series set?

I'm always surprised they don't do more Eclipse sets. They're a perfect way to rid their catalog of titles, and get them out in some package where the picture quality doesn't have to be perfect.

Maybe they don't sell well?

I probably would have blind bought many more Eclipse sets, had they not all been on Hulu. Now I'll watch them on there, and if I like them enough I'll buy it.

Hope they could announce it earlier than they usually do, since it is after all 3 days later than usual.
It gets 1-2 a.m. here at the time of announcement.

by the way, i have to say I'm surprised they're releasing
[Show spoiler] The New World
before
[Show spoiler]The Tree of Life
.
I thought the latter is considered much better and more important film.
But maybe they're going chronologically?

Do we even know they have any plans for Tree of Life at all?

well, i would assume since they have released/are releasing all of Malick's previous films, they wouldn't leave that out which got the Palme D'Or too.

yeah, I know it already has a release, but so does Dr. Strangelove.

I say this every time but nah, waste of time releasing The Tree of Life. It's not like we'd get some kind of stunning commentary track either given how reclusive both Malick and Lubezki are.

Much rather get other titles out there than just slapping the Criterion logo on it for the sake of fulfilling Malick's filmography amongst the collection.

There are unseen cuts with TOL though. I thought the rumor was that Criterion would be including them.

Are any other cuts of TOL actually confirmed, or is it all just urban cinema legend?

Dont take my word for it, but I think Lubezki confirmed the other cuts... not sure though!

The 5 or 6 hour cut would make TOL an easy double dip. Criterion would still not bill it as "Director Approved" even though Malick would work with them. Malick prefers to keep it low key.
