Agreed, that's a good list. I've had To Be or Not To Be sitting in a pile of movies to watch since I bought it like six weeks ago. I need to push it up on the list. Just too many movies to watch, and not enough time. But that's one I really want to see.

I have about half the ones you've listed. To be honest, I don't consider Charade a screwball comedy, simply because Audrey Hepburn's Regina character doesn't exhibit typical behavior for women in the genre. She's more the damsel in distress after her husband is found dead, not the woman-in-charge I'd expect. And Cary Grant's character is certainly stronger than the typical male in a screwball comedy. And, while the dialogue was crisp, from memory, it didn't exhibit the rapid-fire delivery that I've come to expect from a screwball comedy.

I would add Capra's You Can't Take it With You to your list. Another I'd consider adding is Libeled Lady, which I am watching tonight. I won't know just how good it is, obviously, until it's done, but it's always been given high marks, so I'm hopeful. It's a Jean Harlow vehicle, also co-starring Myrna Loy, William Powell, and Spencer Tracy. That's a hell of a cast.

If you mean you've NEVER seen To Be or Not to Be, then yes, move it to the top of your pile! It's wonderful!

Charade is a real mash-up of genres, I think. I agree it's not a straight-up screwball comedy, but I didn't want to have to put to many caveats into my original post, and I think one of the ingredients is screwball comedy. But I also agree the gender roles are a little off for the genre.

Libeled Lady doesn't appear to be available on blu ray as far as I can tell? You Can't Take it With You seems to be a good suggestion though - I've not seen it.

Speaking of Screwball, it absolutely kills me that Bringing up Baby and His Girl Friday are not on bluray yet. I mean, come on!

I've had to do that, too - wake up early to watch a film. With my son's sleep schedule, however, that means waking up at around 6 if I hope to get half of the film in.

Enjoy ITMFL! It's a very rich film both visually and thematically. A lot of rewatchabilty.

It's probably my most rewatched film in The Collection, maybe the most rewatched film in my entire collection.

Someday soon I need to clear a weekend day and watch Days Of Being Wild/ITMFL/2046 back to back to back.

I'm kind of wondering if Bringing Up Baby will be a Warner Archive Release in the future. His Girl Friday is a public domain title but Sony has the original elements so a restoration from them could be possible. It fits into the mold of what the old Columbia Pictures films that Criterion has been releasing.

I don't think so, I believe that was confirmed to be coming from another label. CC already has a profile for Brando. Also, the way they wrote the name (Brando, Marlon) is odd as it's usually just written normally. Like I said, a bit of a head-scratcher lol
