Even if it takes a while it will get here before November. And lets face it, any money I'm not spending in the fall on Criterion is a good thing.

I know. I just hate doing business with sorry companies, and Deep Discount is by far the worst internet retailers I've ever dealt with. I've probably places a dozen orders with them and two times they sent me the wrong product and not once can I recall getting my shipment within 10 days.

If by "the south" you mean Florida, Chad, I mentioned earlier that Florida is only southern by default of location. I'm sure certain parts of Florida have as many trailer parks as the other regional southern states, but Florida, as a whole, is by no means "southern" in the true sense of the word. Living in Florida is probably the reason why you haven't seen PBR... because it's all over the South. Florida might as well be Cuba, no?

And, did someone already answer the U of O? I'm pretty sure that would be University of Ohio.

Beta, what's got you lagging on the discs? You put too much faith in B&N during the sale, I guess, huh? I figured you would've, at least, pre-ordered "Crumb" and "Black Orpheus" from Amazon 'cause I know you have Prime shipping. You could've had your "Black Orpheus" today from Amazon, if so... just like me.

[smallrant]Just because they are the topic... Trouble I have with them is when you order something that arrives damaged, you send it back for replacement and the replacement arrives damaged too (usually due to their use of bubble bags). Every, and I mean every, time that's happened, and I return it the second time for a refund, they never handle it properly. They get the return, they figure they refunded it once (before they re-shipped it), end of story. I've written small notes on the invoice, didn't matter. This last time I wrote them a long letter, detailing how they repeatedly mess it up and they owe me a refund (and that of course the letter was a waste of time in the first place), still didn't matter. So, each and every time, I have to wait 30 days after I sent it back to call them and have them straighten things out (give me the refund); calling earlier than that and it's a waste of time, they look at it as lost mail even though delivery confirmation proves they get it in a matter of days. Anyway, besides their crappy bubble bags and plastic envelope contraptions, this is what bugs me about them most. Lesson learned this time: never order anything from them that is out of stock (because it almost inevitably ends up being shipped stupidly and quite often arrives damaged), or at least don't bother with trying for a replacement. It's not worth it any more. (I don't mind the shipping delays very much, just the damage.)[/smallrant]

The funniest incident I had with DD was when instead of sending me the film I ordered they sent me some book on the History of the NY Yankees. Of all the things they possibly could have sent in error they send me the absolute most offensive thing imaginable. They may as well have sent me a turd sandwich. And much like you, it took them well over a month to get the order right.

when I have gotten a single dvd or bd from DD it has been placed in one of those flat plastic deals with a cut-out space where the disc fits perfectly.
I've never had anything arrive in any condition other than perfect.

Got a question for all of you. Some of my Criterion-titles has a problem with my player/TV. When I watch some scenes, especially scenes with a huge frame, landscapes and/or a lot of people my image becomes blurry and really looks bad. Its a lot of noise and looks like a DVD or something. Films that I have experienced that with is: Paris, Texas, Kagemusha and Stagecoach. Also, in the hospital scene in Planet Terror (R2) the same problem occured. My other Criterion-titles works all fine (they are all black/white btw. Although i suspect my copy of Seventh Seal has the same problem). Whats my problem?

Here's a picture of excellence. The only way my band travels.

and to keep it Criterion related, here's a picture of myself wearing my Hausu shirt and hanging with what may be the two worst wax figures ever made.

All of you might go to jail talking to me for this long. Geez, I still look 16 and still get I.D.ed everywhere I go.

P.S., those wax figures look really bad.

That wax dude with the goatee looks especially unrealistic.

I just finished watching Crumb after not having seen it for about ten years...and that was on an old LD that I was pretty excited about finding because I had no idea, up to that point, that a documentary had been made about him. Watching it again today was just as fascinating, and I am glad that Criterion gave this one the BD treatment even though the bump in quality may be negligible. I own the CD soundtrack to this movie and the audio on this BD sounds much better then what I remember the cd sounding like.

34 or 35 years old (depending on what month this pic was taken). The American Dreamer is a doc that was made while he made The Last Movie in 1971. You can watch parts of American Dreamer on youtube I think.

You can get that poster here: http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_post...eamer_1971.htm. I might buy one soon.

Another pic from that day:

Thanks! I have a confession to make, I have not seen many Hopper films including Easy Rider so I am eagerly looking forward to America Lost & Found. My favorite Hopper film as of this moment is Blue Velvet.
