Sorry: Going fast this morning in Milwaukee. I'd try reserving them in store for pickup later.

I can't begin to tell you, and the others who contribute to the discussion, just how much our conversations have meant to me. My life, for the most part, has been put on hold for the foreseeable future. Many of the things I'd normally do--working, going out with friends, or dating, are pretty much a no go at this point in time. I'm naturally a very positive person, but there are times when I find it difficult to keep my chin up. Yet I come here, and there's always something interesting being talked about. Sometimes I can contribute. Other times, I'll just read what others are putting out there. Yet I rarely leave here without a smile, or some new pebble of inspiration. It might be something as simple as a different perspective about a film I've already seen. Or, I might be turned on to a new director, actor, or movie, for the first time. Sometimes, I just laugh at Ray's seemingly endless supply of animated gifs and pop culture-infused references. But the point to my meandering sentiment is this: often, I feel better better closing the browser window than I did when I first opened it. And this special little group wouldn't be the same if any of the regulars were missing. You bring a lot to the discussion. You are valued, Polaroid. And, if somebody said something to you on the forum that upset you--kick them to the curb. They are not worth your time.

If you need to take a while away from our little inner sanctum, I understand; our other regulars will, too. But know this. It won't be quite the same without you here.

You do what you need to do, and we will support your decision, whatever it may be. Just know that whenever you do decide to come back, we will all be that much happier.
Yeah thats how I see it, I don't have friends where I am, so all I have really are my films, my dog and this forum (sad I know!) but that why I spend so much time here, cause I learn so much and I feel I have gotten to know people on here (in a way!) and I do love chatting about film as there is no one in reality for me to talk to about films...I have learnt and discovered some incredible cinema thanks to people here, I just take things to heart and it really felt like the people who made the comments were talking on behalf of everyone (unfair I know, but even I get fed up of myself lol!), I know I can be annoying and I try not to be, but there are days where I am stuck in doors cause I cant go out, so I do spend the day on here cause it makes me feel better. I do find it hard to resist posting because I love discussing film and Criterion and stuff - I just don't want people thinking badly of me cause of the way I post and I don't want to cause drama (I have enough in real life!).

I guess I'm more upset now because this isn't the first time, not even the second and I don't want people to think of me as the person who doesn't get on with others - just feels like a never ending cycle.. I do appreciate the nice comments recently, but I don't want people thinking I am posting just to get nice comments lol...

I want to come back and stuff I have just got it in my head that people don't want me here cause of how I post >.< and because this isn't the first time I just worry it will happen again...

But yeah I really do appreciate your reply, does mean a lot I suppose some people forget there is a human being behind these words and easy to find them weird cause of how active they may be and stuff.

(im so bad at writing lol I end up repeating myself and getting all lost in thought so apologies for that)

If I only went places where people liked what I had to say ... well ..... I don't know where any of those places are so might as well go where I like in this life.

For what it's worth, Polaroid, as a mostly-lurker I enjoy your posts and your enthusiasm. I don't agree with your opinions 100% of the time, but you're obviously a committed lover of film and your perspectives are valued.

Good to see a Polaroid sighting here today.

I'd had some chilly receptions on Blu-ray.com myself, because some folks think that my posts are long-winded. They're right, of course, but I just shrug it off and keep doing what I do. If this site ever implements the 140-character limit like Twitter does, though, then I'm pretty much screwed.

I have all the Criterion's released on blu and typically only buy from the 2 BN sales and the Criterion flash sales. It is not uncommon for me to have 20-30 titles in my transaction. Although I have to admit, when I do that in the store, not only do I never see anyone else picking up more than a couple titles, the checkout person usually acts like they don't get many people buying $500+ of Criterion during the sale. Quite often, they say something like "Whoa, taking advantage of the sale" So I am guessing that while there are others that have my Criterion purchasing style, it is not very common.

Hey, Polaroid. I'm not sure what I can add that others haven't expressed already. But sometimes, for whatever reason, one needs to take a break from things, and there's nothing wrong with that. In science fiction fandom, it's called "gafiating" (gafia=Get Away From It All). Sometimes you need a day or two, sometimes a week or two. But whatever, do what you feel you need to do for your state of mind.

Just don't stay away too long, or we'll have to hunt you down.

So yeah as I said, I recently saw Andrei Rublev on the big screen - was a phenomenal experience, I had gone to see it straight after a 12 hour shift (no breaks!) so was a tad tired and did make the run time a bit of a struggle, especially with the films pacing and narrative - it really reminded me of Marketa Larazova which tbh I did prefer.

I went in not really knowing much about the film, I obviously know Tarkovsky's other works quite well, but I did always avoid this because the subject sounded pretty weak for me - but it wasn't like what I was expecting all, it had a lot of weird moments and some extremely memorable and unexpected moments too! It had some really beautiful cinematography (of course!) and I loved his use of unexplained symbolic images, leaving the viewer to decipher them, shame more directors don't let the viewers take their own ideas form a scene, rather than shoving it down our throats lol, or atleast don't treat us like we are stupid.

But yeah as good as it was, it didn't stay with me as much as Marketa Lazarova did ... or his other films tbh but it was a great experience and I don't regret seeing it at all, as I said, some moments of the film really stuck with me. The ending which I wont spoil was areal treat and I really wasn't expecting it! It's quite nice being surprised by a film, even from one that a lot of people seem to talk about!

Really was good seeing it on the big screen though, be great if Criterion could upgrade their DVD release. I am extremely excited to see Solaris, Stalker, and Mirror on the big screen in particular. I feel so spoilt!

Tarkovsky's films are so unique, they feel so natural and it is so easy to get lost in the worlds he creates. I seriously think mainstream cinemas should play all his films every month, all year - forever.

Really depressing to think there are millions of people out there that will never see or appreciate a Tarkovsky film.

Snagged In a Lonely Place (finally!!), The Manchurian Candidate, The Graduate, Only Angels Have Wings, A Touch of Zen and The New World. Officially tapped out for this sale. Will be impatiently waiting for these to arrive.

Polaroid don't let anybody run you off, especially from something you enjoy. If nothing else add people you don't click with to your ignore list. It helps.

It was more the fact they all made out that every post I made was a waste of time and never had any purpose or meaning to it, really hurt me as I saw this place (and the UK thread) as a nice social place to chat about film relating to Criterion - rather than strict discuss this and discuss that, and I generally liked a lot of you guys that post so it I just found it all quite hurtful (I guess I am too sensitive).

When there is no news I thought it was nice to try start a fresh topic to keep people entertained and just keep the thread alive, never understood the point in posting just when there is real news and I suppose people didn't see that and saw my posts as a desperate ploy to get attention/stir trouble (which is not what I was going for).

On a more personal note, I suffer really bad depression and I felt because of the comments made everyone here hated me and found me to be a huge problem, I imagined everyone rolling there eyes and getting pissed off everytime I posted. I know everyone got annoyed with me around announcements due to my excitement, and spammy posts but I never meant to wind people up, I generally have a huge passion for cinema and announcements really make me happy (as stupid as it is), all I do is work so its nice to get excited by things and maybe I just let it get to my head. Also I guess its hard to take me serious as I never went to film school so I can't use as many technical terms, but despite that I do love cinema and the films released by all these companies and I learn from them and teach myself.

So I just removed myself and everyone seems happier so I will stay that way. Just thought I would post to clear it up as a few asked.

Mods are more than welcome to remove this post if its causing topic to go off topic or its not appropriate.

(I suppose to make this on topic, recently saw the remastered Andrei Rublev at my local cinema, got Tarkovskys other films all booked. Great experience and I regret not seeing AR sooner, beautiful ending.)

But yeah here I am - making people roll their eyes, I just wish people would remember there is a person behind these words...
Polaroid, I think you give the other members here too much credit. Blu-ray.com is notably boring without your posts. You clearly don't believe it, but you were an asset.

I don't post often because I don't always feel I have something of value to say and I'm not nearly as entertaining as you are, but I frequently browse and people like yourself and Ray Jackson make it enjoyable. Your quirkiness and passion for cinema matters and it's a lot of fun.

I understand how you feel and only hope you'll become a frequent poster again on these threads. I highly doubt I'm the only one that genuinely misses your presence here.

True...I prefer to pick up 1-4 titles in one visit...Stores are very close and I like to 'sip' instead of 'drinking'...Last year I was ready to check out & had 4 titles in my hand and the cashier was in the other isle, she asked me...'do you need any help in finding out any t......whoaaaa!!!' (she noticed I have 4 titles and that was enough to freak her out)...

I say you're both OK in my book. In all our books. Keep posting, both of you. Let's move on. We've got a B&N sale to maneuver through for the next few weeks. Ever onward!
