There may be some other codes after New World is released, but it's questionable if any extra discounts will be allowed online for the rest of the sale anyway.

Check the deals thread or the Retail/BN coupon thread and and you can request. Actually just send me a PM and tell me how many you need, but these only work for Criterions in store.

The 25% codes expired (or were cancelled actually) yesterday. The are some 15% codes that may/may not work instore and the $10/50 codes.

Before the Discussion thread folks get too upset, I suggest further be taken to the deals thread.
Ok, I understand. Thanks anyway. Appreciate the info.

Default Picnic at Hanging Rock

Looking at B&N online, making final selections. For days now, Picnic at Hanging Rock has been out of stock. It looks like the sale will end July 31st. Asking if anyone thinks, or knows from previous Criterion sales at B&N, if it will be back in stock online before then?

I would be surprised if it weren't back in stock at some point during the next two weeks. That being said, it seems B&N were caught completely off guard by the demand that came with the 20% off $60, and 25% off $100 coupons. I had a list of twelve movies I wanted, and the afternoon before the 25% off coupon was to drop, three of those films were already out of stock. And the day after placing my order with three alternates, four more films I bought were out of stock.

You might get all you can online, and then check your local stores for Picnic. Use the inventory checker at B&N's site. Bring up the movie, check the local store by zip code, and their inventory manager will tell you if it's in stock. I found the three movies I originally wanted at my local B&N today, and successfully used the $10 off $50 coupon. With my 10% member discount, I got them for $47.60.

Thanks for the detailed info. I appreciate that. Unfortunately, the only stores it's available in are at least 45 minutes away, and with no coupon, it would cost me $39.99. I think I'm going to chance it, wait and see if it becomes available online again. I also took off Paris, Texas, which I love, so that I'd have enough to get free shipping should Picnic restock. If not, I will just consider that as a sign I don't need it right now. Someone else advised me that it's coming on TCM on the 17th, so at least I'll get to see it. I added Salo in its place, another film I've really wanted to see. I already had Seconds and Rififi in my cart.
Looked around online for coupons, but as others have said, none were valid. Still, $20 for Criterion films is reasonable to me.

And, just generally speaking, I really want to thank the forum posters on this thread. I've asked more than several questions, asked for opinions, and everyone has been helpful, friendly, and seemed to not pass any judgement on my choices. Thanks all. Hitting that place order button, then bedtime

Agreed. France has taken a massive beating over the last year or two. Let's hope that this is the last attack on them, because these attacks are at the point of being disgusting. Too many, too often.

The sale is also going on in stores, so 19.99 there too, no coupon needed. (But also if you check the Criterion sale thread, there's coupons to be had for the asking usually, so less than 19.99 is usually pretty easy to achieve in store.)

(All my "local" stores are at least 45 minutes away, but I have several to choose from if I get ambitious. Probably won't be this week though, but will see what's in stock where tomorrow.)

You might check the link I posted earlier this evening. It takes you to the Barnes & Noble coupon drop thread. I posted two $10 off $50 coupon codes, and instructions how to use it at the store, if needed. Last I checked, one was still available.

If it's take, send a message to Hariseldon. I'm sure he can hook you up with at least one.

Let's just hope it's the last attack, period. France. The U.S. Anywhere. Why there is so much hatred in this world, I just don't get it.

That being said, I had a terrible premonition about something awful happening at the Olympic Games in Rio. I saw a story that the police force there was threatening to go on strike, right as the games were about to begin, because they haven't been paid in months. To my knowledge, nothing has happened-yet-in South America. I hope they get it together, and that security is tight.

Please, God, let me be wrong.

Dazed, Videodrome and Strangelove are three of the best packages in the collection IMO. Nice haul.

New release announcements would be a lovely birthday present today. Having a birthday on a "15th" makes this a possibility every year. Sometimes, it's the small things...

I plan on making time for my first viewing of Paris, Texas tonight, which I bought at the last flash sale. I just need a little bit of cooperation from my 3-week old son.

congratulations on your newborn! these are the 'relatively' easy times to squeeze a movie in. wait 'til he's 2 and he's bouncing off the walls like my son. usually, by the time he goes to bed, my wife and I are too exhausted with him and everything else we've got to deal with.

Paris, Texas is a really good movie, though! enjoy!

Dragon Inn presented in 4K - Criterion release: TBD

King Hu's classic follows a formula comparable to A Touch of Zen. The first act is concerned with introducing characters and plot details. The fighting begins in the second act and the third act rewards the viewer with a spectacular flourish of swordplay and kung fu.

The story is quite easy to follow. Minister Yu is falsely accused and killed by powerful eunuch Cao. Yu's children are forced into exile with Cao's assassins of East Chamber ("Espionage Agency") on the hunt. The Dragon Inn serves as the epicenter of the conflict. It's safe to say if you enjoyed Zen then you'll like Dragon Inn. My favorite of the two is Zen but both are exceptional films, highly entertaining and feature some gorgeous scenery.

Next up: Sembene's Black Girl on 7/16.

Hoping against all likelihood that Michael Cimino’s Year of the Dragon is announced today. I haven’t seen it. I’m not expecting a masterpiece, but I have a feeling that I’ll really enjoy it.

Also hoping for it so I can stop buying DVDs. I added Truffaut’s The Wild Child and Small Change for around $7 each brand new.
