That's very exciting news if it's actually going to happen. I've always thought Fedora is a drastically underrated film in Wilder's output.

Do you know whether Olive Films intend to release it on Blu-ray as well as DVD?

Yes, I saw that. Doesn't mean it's not possible as it's just one person saying "no".

My copy of "Pierrot Le Fou" had some French on it

For those discussing the "Black Orpheus" case situation..... what part were you saying didn't look right???? My copy appears to be perfectly fine..... black/grey spine, number, etc...

There was quite a bit of nudity in the movie for it being an early 70's film.
Also listen to Bogdanovich's commentary on that scene.

Otherwise if you are using nextflix...

[Show spoiler]The scene was so nervewracking for Cybil that they had to film those scenes with just her and those scenes with people watching were filmed at a later time.

Hopefully that or a Billy Wilder set release. "Some Like It Hot" has been released so many times it's crazy. Truthfully, I'm not sure how many versions of this DVD that I own.

OK, now for everyone....which title do you enjoy more...."Easy Rider" or "Two-Lane Blacktop"?

Looks like I threw out the baby with the bathwater when I deleted my earlier post about Fedora, but the baby part was that I thought Fedora sucked. It was one of those I want those two hours of my life back experiences for me (and now that I think about it, my money too ).

(But then again, I'm not all that wild about Sunset Boulevard either, so there you go.)

See my earlier post where I described the missing grey ink. Guess I have a valuable collector's item. 100 bucks and it's yours.

Edit: Guess I didn't post the details (remember typing them in...): The big wacky C in the UL corner, the template info on the side (year, "The Criterion Collection"), and the small wacky C and "The Criterion Collection" on the spine are just black areas awaiting the never to be application of grey ink.

I was one of them with the problem, the grey boxes on the spine and front left were completely blacked out. the spine number was still on the bottom but the part above ( the grey box part) disappears into the rest of the black of the case as well as the front of the case. how am i supposed to know if its a criterion! lol or for that matter know what year it was released!!!!

ive been looking for a correct copy to print out but havent found it, i dont feel like shipping it back to amazon for just that but its killing my ocd....

I watched Paths of Glory yesterday, had never seen it before. Terrific film, and a really interesting look at early Kubrick. Kirk Douglas was epic, well acted by the cast, and imagine the cinematography will pop in HD.

Picked these babies up last night at the c'theque. I mentioned to the asst. C'theque director the Breathless blu-ray release and he said that was the reason why the film is coming back in September for 3 more screenings

Does anyone here own the Momitsu BDP-799?

If so, what do you think about it? Does it play DVDs "region free" as well as blu-rays?

Thanks!

Got it. Mine has worked flawlessly for over a year now. It plays everything I've thrown at it... does the whole PAL to NTSC conversion for standard definition stuff, too. It's a bit loud for a player, but I love it for what it is.

I usually just punch the one code that plays DVDs of any region and then Region B blu-rays. You have to put in the code each time when starting it up, but that's about the only minor nuisance.

Good boy! You do realize you're just opening yourself up to a whole other mess of financial problems by going region-free, don't you? If you do get it and can't find the codes just let me know. I'll get 'em to you. I printed them out on a small piece of paper and taped it to the back of the remote.

Is anyone going to get the silents and Machine Gun McCain tomorrow? I am still going to try to hold out on the silents until hopefully a B&N sale in November (like that month isn't loaded enough).

I am trying to save money until Spet 14th (Breathless blu and My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done dvd comes out) when non-stop releases start (The Criterions Sept-Nov, the Flicker Alley Chaplin release, Apocalypse Now, Rocky Horror, etc). Oh and still the Flicker Alley Chicago release.

I just want to go crazy right now. Too much crap.
