I just want to go crazy right now. Too much crap.
I'm going to need a day off work in October to watch all these releases

CG, did you see the updated note on DVDBeaver's review concerning "Machine Gun McCain?" Do you know anything about the colors for this particular film?

Quote:
NOTE: Peter tells us in email: "...this transfer in no way, shape or form resembles the Technicolor prints of its release. I ran one recently, and the color was literally the star of the show: eye-gouging yellows and reds, almost a pop-art feel to the whole design. While you can't expect contemporary transfers to truly replicate the IB Tech "look", whomever timed this transfer did it with NO eye towards color saturation whatsoever."

I have never even seen the film. Just the trailer before. So can't comment on any coloring of the film. It was one of those B-movie type deals where you couldn't find it for crap. That's why I was surprised a blu was announced out of nowhere.

It's pretty cheap on Amazon right now, but like I said, I might wait off on tomorrow's releases. Maybe it gets lower in a sale in a couple months or something.

Speaking of coloring,

Has anyone got the Criterion release of L’enfance nue and actually watched it yet? I am wondering if the coloring is that much of an issue to go ahead and buy it. It might be the right coloring for the film or it might not be. But the MoC version is totally different than Criterions', so someone is wrong.

Criterion posted a blurb about the coloring on their site. Did you read that? The "correct" coloring would probably be somewhere inbetween the coloring of both the Criterion and MOC discs, I would imagine.

I read it, that's why I was asking a consumer first hand, or should I believe the people trying to sell it? I might just get it anyways. I guess I'm still ticked off on the fact that Pialat could of had a chance at blu, and didn't get it. Same goes for The Docks of New York, but we know why those silents didn't make it.

thats a bit disappointing to hear about Machine Gun McCain if true...I mean I've never seen the film so I can't say that I would even think about it unless someone would have said anything. guess i'll check it out tomorrow. I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, I mean it still has John Cassavetes which is one of the main reasons i wanted to check it out

In a feeble attempt to "catch up" on my viewing..... I had an afternoon showing of "Crumb"

It didn't create excessive elation, nor did it create overt disdain....... I'll certainly make sure I show it to friends, as I think the humor is fascinating, and the personal train-wrecks are must see.....

"Crumb" is, indeed, quite the fascinating "train wreck," as you so eloquently put it, Beta. For me, there isn't a dull moment throughout... lots of WTF moments, though.

And it isn't like any high-class art film either. Just a B-movie genre type film. So I prob wouldn't be too worried over it.

Any word on My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done on Blu? Or any Herzog for that matter? I'd absolutely love a Criterion release of Aguire and Fitzcarraldo!

That's a first that I've heard, lot's of OOP DVD bootlegs floating around, but I guess it was just a matter of time before they got around to Blu. Just wondering, is the bootleg an actual Blu-ray disc?
