Beta, I have been gone for a week or so now on vacation, but got a chance to see Metropolis when it was here in Chicago at the Music Box. It was incredible to see it restored with the lost scenes. If it comes anywhere near you, make it a point to see it.

I recommend Empire of Passion as well.

I understand from a profit standpoint why ITROTS got the blu treatment instead, but someone should go to jail for not putting EoP out on blu.

A couple of questions to a couple of members,

I forgot who it was (sorry) but after I was talking about these films one day a while back, I remember someone said they purchased Godard's Le Petit Soldat & Les Carabiniers. I was just wondering if you (whoever) liked them? Le Petit Soldat is one of my fav Godards. Just wanted to know if someone else liked them.

And Beta,

Did you ever get your Paul Morrissey films?

Edit:
Found out who it was, Old Geezer.

Purchased and viewed both. Le Petit Soldat was very good. I thought Les Carabiniers was one of his weaker efforts. Since then I've picked up most of Godards' movies that I could find, including A Woman is a Woman; Masculin Feminin; and Made in the USA. I really enjoy him although I've been watching a lot of Ingmar Bergman lately.

That's cool. Just thought about it today and remembered you bought them, so I thought to ask you if you watched them.

Hey CG...I streamed Mad Dog Morgan last night...

An interesting film...I liked the pairing of "Irish" Hopper/Morgan and David Gulpilil (Walkabout)...it gave it a slight "Shanghai Noon" feel to it, but done better. I hadn't realized that Gulpilil spoke English so well.

Well...looks like it'll be Dillinger Is Dead coming for tomorrow...I'll let you know what I think.

Since these the Godard set arrived at Big Lots for $5, I still haven't seen it at our local store. My friend in Texas picked one up for me....but still waiting for him to send it to me. But I look forward to seeing it.

Godard set for a Fin?! Amazing! will be by a Big Lots tomorrow, going on a well deserved vacation to Myrtle Beach. Hopefully a Godard set will be there! (what set is it? the Lions Gate one?)

I hope you all don't care about spending $5,

Rialto Pictures got LE PETIT SOLDAT & LES CARABINIERS recently, so in a year or 2, look for Criterion versions maybe. We might be a ways off though (Rialto first has to put them out in theaters, then after months maybe Criterion will release them, so I wouldn't take any chances.).

Though it's just $5 right now and you don't know when these might get Criterion releases. Heck getting Notre Musique (which won't be getting a Criterion release anytime soon, you know, since it's later Godard) for $5 is worth it, let alone 3 more films.

LE PETIT SOLDAT & LES CARABINIERS are also in stand alone releases (it's what I have) if you can't find the set.

Does anyone have a clue where I can find scans of CC dvd covers? I know kndy mentioned a link where there were fake ones, but I am looking for the real deal. I have found some at custommaniacs and freecovers, but anyone know of a better selection. Links are appreciated.

8 1/2 (Criterion)

Eccellente, Eccellente, Eccellente

What an amazing, beautiful film. From the vary begining i was attached to the film because of the coolness of Gudio and the score. This movie was remarkable and truly one of a kind. Not only was the acting perfect, storyline original but the women were amazing (eye candy).

Now i see the hype first hand and this is a great film. You can look at this film from many aspects but
[Show spoiler]i kinda felt like his life was the movie about 1hr in a half in
none the less is was remarkable and a masterpiece that i know i will come to love more with multiple viewings. In addition i love how he exhibits the pressure of directing and finding yourself. One quick question for those who have already viewed it.
[Show spoiler]Did the rest of the cast know this was his movie or was it a secret to them too? Or am i completely lost right now?

5/5
