We understand our customers' desire for uniform packaging, and we are planning to offer the custom plastic case for all Blu-ray titles. Whether we have to pay extra or they just send them to you if you ask them, I don't know....
I may be wrong, but I can't help but interpret that as "all future releases will have the plastic case." Nothing in there says exchange program to me.

It seems to sound like all titles including prev. releases to me. Otherwise they wouldn't really note it on their website... sounds like they will end up selling replacements.

If it were just going forward they wouldn't say that much about it, or even post anything on their website. esp since the e-mail sent to them was about a case for a title already released. Sounds like to me they are not sending out replacements now for Last Year but will give the option to purchase a better case.

I am all for them. I say bring them on sale them I will purchase all the ones I already bought in the cardboard packaging in a heartbest.

Ok, so i always have a hard time understanding the ins/outs of Borders and Barnes and Nobles sales.
Is this online only, or in-store as well? Is it 50% off of the MSRP, or 50% off of the online reduced price?

Well "going forward" is the exact term used in the Criterion email!

And when I inquired about a Marienbad replacement, I got the exact same message AND a replacement Marienbad slipcover - so it certainly didn't seem like a different option was going to be available for Marienbad anytime soon.

Righty-O, and i guess the $17.99 price is for members. I don't know if this means it's available at B&M locations, but under each price it has an option to find in-store availability. That's a good sign. Apparently there's one near my house with all of them in stock except "IN the Realm of the Senses."

I haven't been able to figure out how long the sale will last either. Since i'm a member, these prices are too good to pass up for long.

Make sure you call ahead to the store not sure how the sale works in stores but don't be shocked if it is really select titles like the site says. Wouldn't surprise me that it could be really limited in stores.

The e-mail I got said title available in stores and online. whether or not they carry everything is a store-by-store situation. Mine doesn't carry many criterions at all, but theres one about 10 miles farther that has a whole section.

From what I understand, the sale at Barnes & Noble is technically running from today through July 28th, from what I recall.

I don't suppose this will work for Pre-orders from their site online?

The sale at Barnes & Noble appears to include all of the Criterion titles. When ordering online, there are additional discounts you can take advantage of (for members and non-members) to get more than 50% off the MSRP. I found a post over at DVDTalk with all of the current B&N coupons: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...-part-2-a.html.

I used the Visa link to get an extra 5% off and free expedited shipping (but you have to pay with a Visa card). The 5% basically covered the sales tax, but I'll take it. There are also coupon codes (see link) you can use to take an additional % off a single item in your order (it comes off the most expensive item in your cart). I ended up getting 5 Criterion DVDs for about $83. Unfortunately, I already have the Blu-ray titles I want right now.

Edit: Stopped by the store today, and saw new releases (Marienbad, Seventh Seal) marked 50% off. YMMV.

I just ordered Sergei Eisenstein Alexander Nevsky & Ivan The Terrible, I was looking at getting movies of the master Akira Korusawa but I am thinking these are more likely to be release on BD so I will hold on for now

What is the packaging of For All Mankind on blu-ray like? Is it a plastic case or some sort of cardboard thing?

heading to B&N in the moring to see what they have left, then will probably order online too. I'm seriously frightened of this sale.

Wonder what the total cost of the Eclipse series would come to? I have the Postwar Kurosawa (the Master). Glad to see some of his titles are as low as $13 (for members).

I kinda wished I wouldn't have opened my inbox today, this is going to cost me a small fortune.
