Today would make sense what with Del Toro coming out and all.

If it doesn't happen today, I don't think it'll happen at all. Especially with the BN sale right around the corner and a lot of people wait for that to get some better deals.

I watched Hoop Dreams last night for the first time, surprisingly since I'm an avid sports fan and a huge fan of Roger Ebert. I think it's quite possibly the greatest documentary ever made, and I love and watch documentaries frequently. I also think it's still a very timely movie.

That's what my order history on the site says, anyway.

They might do it on Thursday as yesterday was Columbus day and all.
But it certainly doesn't look like there's one today.

That gives me hope that they'll be something this week still.

I have 100 Criterion dollars to burn!

I'm like 40 or so. So I'm placing multiple orders this time. I have it all mapped out!

The single thing that most indicates there'll be a sale is for some reason next week's releases were moved to Monday overnight. I don't know what that is indicating but it seems a strange shift if it isn't tied to these titles being included/not included in this week's sale.

Still a bit disappointing if another major sale is gone -- 4-6 new items at Costco tiwce a year, 2-3 items at Amazon occasionally in the price vicinity, an occasional deal at Deep Discount. It's still the 2 50% sales and 2 40% sales at BN, plus the rare B2G1 or B1G1F sales still keep the pump flowing
It happens around this time every year, and it's always "close" to the B&N sale. One has nothing to do with the other. Different retailers.

They have a "super points" program in which they'll offer up to 20% back in pts on purchases. During the last year or so, they've only done it on like a couple days, but they used to do it like once a month. They also give a you a quarter when you review your purchase, a quarter when you review a product, and an extra 3% when you purchase on their site w/ their credit card.

They also do something like $15 off $75 w/ Visa Checkout and give $5 in free pts like twice a year.

So all you used to have to do is get started... I bought some protein powder or something and got $15 off $75 and 15% back. Now if you only buy when they are giving extra bonus pts back, it's almost a never ending well of discounts - use $5 in pts to get yr purchase to $19 and get $4.05 back in pts.

Nobody EVER has blinked an eye at what Rakuten does, but over the last few years I've bought Criterion blus from them from anywhere from $10 to maybe $16 or $18 at highest.
Probably not much of a consolation as most of you probably don’t have existing points at Rakuten to “get started” as I describe in my post above, but Rakuten.com has their Reward Day today. 10% back in points on all purchases. The last thing I bought was Three Colors Trilogy. With existing points, I got it down to $35. They gave me 10 % back on that day and a “we like you” (go figure ) bonus of $5 in points to use during their Reward Day promotion.

So, with all of that and some prior points that I have not yet exhausted, I think I’ll pick up She Wore a Yellow Ribbon for around $8.

With the BN sale starting early this year Nov 1 and IF the Criterion.com sale happens at 1-2 week later than usual the incentive is nearly zero for many of the potential customers.

There are certainly a few who would still buy at Criterion regardless though I'm betting the fall sale is a lot less popular that the Feb/March sale which is 3-4 months separated from either of the BN sales. I know I've often skipped the Fall Flash sale entirely. I might order today, but if it's Oct 18th there nearly a zero chance of paying 19.99 instead of $12-14 for the same item
Who cares if they know when a different outlet is having a sale? That's on B&N, not Criterion. And Criterion still does it every year 2 weeks before B&N's sale, so why would this year be any different?

And the B&N sale really isn't starting any earlier. It started Nov 5 a few years ago, so it usually runs the whole month.

Criterion has their own shop, and $50 incentive certificates for every $250 you spend (I think). Again, one sale has nothing to do with the other.

Agreed, also the flash sale is only 24hrs at the most so I don't think it clashes too much with any other sale.
