The restoration that the release will be sourced from is not a trilogy edit; it's in two halves.

Last few times announcements have been on time, not sure if that only means there is a higher probability that the streak is ruined

Largely, I agree. However, I really feel bad for the fans of Le Samourai, which Criterion may have hinted at numerous times. It seems that group has entered an "I am hiding in a cave until announcements are declared" mentality.

Does anybody know the issue regarding this eventual release?

I was under the impression that it was subpar quality of available HD sources.

There's no proper restoration of it available.

If today was the flash sale, I am guessing 'Don't Look Back' might have sold out quickly along with some other recent titles... because of Nobel prize announcement...

I would pick up La Belle Noiseuse for sure. I thought that might end up with Criterion. Maybe they will get Celine & Julie Go Boating.

New Yorker Films was set to release a blu-ray a few years ago. That date passed and it was first delayed then later removed from their site. I emailed them and they didn't seem too confident it would be released any time soon.

Let's hope someone else can acquire the rights.

I could go for a Paper Moon Criterion release. It has a fully loaded UK release (of course) but absolutely nothing in the states (of course). Such a great film and Tatum O' Neal is amazing in it. Well deserved Oscar. Also could use a Dead Zone Criterion, Lost Highway Criterion (especially after the amazing Mulholland Drive Criterion release) and David Cronenberg's Crash Criterion.

The MOC blu of Paper Moon is nothing special. Transfer is decent, but it could easily be better.

If I look at the back of the disc (the side with the data,) there is an inner ring that looks like it might not belong there. On the picture side, there kinda seems to be a design that might just be making some kind of shadow on the flip side. I was a little disappointed w/ the condition of some of the other titles in the lot and I'm wondering if my disappointment should include this title or if this is just how it appears.
anyone mind looking at their disc? I figure that in the U.S., we're are all home now.

I'd appreciate it.

Did anyone post this about FilmStruck yet?

Good news and bad news.

12 hrs ·

As we wait (eagerly!) for the FilmStruck launch, a few helpful reminders:

1/ Sign up for the two week free trial, & make sure we're the right streaming service for you.

2/ We'll stream in the US only at launch. We are exploring international interest in the service, though. In the comments below, tell us where you'd like to see us expand.

3/ We'll launch on Amazon Fire TV, iOS, Android & the web. Apple TV will launch in November, and Roku, Chromecast, PS4 & XBox One are in the works. Hang in there with us. We'll get to your platform as soon as we can.

4/ Subscriptions run $6.99/month for FilmStruck only; $10.99/month for FilmStruck + Criterion Channel; $99/year for FilmStruck + Criterion Channel.

We look forward to spending time with you soon!

Good news: Amazing pricing!

Bad news: No Roku or PS4 support at launch. Not even Apple TV is supported at launch. Did they decide to start with the least desired platforms?! What a joke!

Yeah there were some posts some weeks ago, I think it's good pricing, unfortunately I agree that they don't seem to have focused enough on the devices that matter (Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, PS4, etc), not sure why the priority to handheld devices.

This from the Faq made me chuckle:

Quote:
Will all of the movies stream in HD?
All films will be in HD unless they are not available in that format.
So basically all films will be HD except the ones that are in SD, or the opposite for that matter , why bother to have the question in the first place.

Not having it available on devices that people can easily watch on their TV is going to hurt, the cinephile market this is aimed at is not going to want to watch films on mobile devices. By the time its available on Roku, PS4 et al are people even going to remember the service exists.

No Roku? F me. Well. They lose my sub $$ until they get that fixed.

Seriously, how do you launch a streaming site with no Roku or Apple TV?
