Does anyone know whether or not Pan's Labyrinth comes in a standard plastic blu-ray case or is it a cardboard digipak? I'm deciding whether or not to buy the trilogy (even though I have the other 2 films) or just the stand-alone release. I'd prefer it is in a plastic case so it matches the other 2 releases.

Criterion hasn't said a single word regarding the status of the set. A rumor was going around about them losing the rights to Head. This rumor gained traction when Five Easy Pieces was given a separate release, and this separate release included a documentary about BBS that had originally been on the Head disc in the set. About a year later, Easy Rider was given a separate release, which further fueled the belief that the BBS set was going to go OOP. My suspicion -- and I emphasize that it's just my suspicion, so salt to flavor -- is that Criterion did indeed lose the rights to Head, but was allowed to keep selling already-manufactured copies of the set for as long as they had them in stock. Once the stock is gone, I'm guessing they won't be able to press more, and the set will be officially OOP. |
