I picked up Pan's Labyrinth, Short Cuts, Blood Simple, Cat People, and The Killing. All blind buys except Pan's Labyrinth. I would love to get more, but money is tight right now.

Unrelated to the flash sale, but I just stumbled across Le Cercle Rouge... like new... from a seller on Amazon for $60.

One of my most sought after titles... someone please tell me I got a good deal.

I've been meaning to dig into the Chaplin films, but don't really know where to start.
I would start with Modern Times.

I think I'll skip this sale, even though I very much would like to participate. The B&N sale is so close, and I can wait until then to get the films I want.

I'm surprised Criterion doesn't have a Chaplin box set.

Your choice, but mine and several others are obviously to wait at this point which it wouldn't have been earlier

As far as unit profit margins -- irrelevant b/c most of us aren't ever going to buy at the higher price anyway. 0 units sold at $32 is less profit than some units at $20 (assuming there is any profit at $20)
Funny how there are a lot of sold out titles, since you claim people won't be buying there because the B&N sale is 2 weeks away. I guess you are wrong, sir. I think they know their own business better than people on the forums.

I've been hoping for one. Would love a Harry Lloyd one too, though they'd probably need to do another release or two to round out such a set

Waited too long to order Dekalog, so I grabbed the following in it's place:

Woman In The Dunes
Night Train to Munich
The Story of the Last Chrysantemum
Beyond the Valley of the Dolls

That was my first Chaplin too!

Wait, wasn't that the first Criterion release from Chaplin? Or was it another film?

EDIT: Nevermind, just realized it was Modern Times.

Kinda bummed I missed out on Short Cuts.

Boyhood
McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Blood Simple

That'll be it until November. I'll probably end up picking up The New World, The Player, Short Cuts and Punch Drunk Love then.

Mccabe & Mrs. Miller, Blood Simple, Pan's Labyrinth & Boyhood are still (6:47PM CT) in stock which probably would not have happened if this sale was 2 weeks before...

Dekalog & Short Cuts are the only new titles that went OOS quickly (within 2 hours)...we don't know the stock levels of older titles but I really do not see a lot of OOS titles...after almost 8 hours...

I think Hari is right and in the forum I see lot of people pulling back...Also Frankly just because one makes movies or produces media releases does not mean they always capture/guess (timing/demand/market) correctly...If that was the case, there would have never been any failure...

A portion of the review:
...the entire film is mesmerizing on this Blu-ray. I found myself just staring hypnotically - I called my wife over to watch some of it - same result. It puts you in a trance! Absolutely riveting image quality...
Well... I'm sold.

I guess the important thing is Criterion probably makes more profit selling directly via flash sale vs other retailers 50% off sales, so even if the timing could be better, it's still better for them than not doing the sale at all.

My sale buys:

Not as much as I usually order, and even though BN sale is around the corner I wanted to grab these and support them directly (and build up some more towards that next gift card).

Still need to finish watching July buys....

Offcourse!!! Definitely better than not doing...Anyway with the 3 I ordered this time will add to my unwatched list of 12 now (12+3=15)...I really dreamed of having 0 unwatched before November B&N sale...not going to happen...
