I just watched McCabe And Mrs. Miller, a film that I was already very fond of prior to the Criterion release. What a disc!

Big fan. Particularly like the score.

I feel like Truffaut's premature death (the anniversary of which is coming up this Friday) robbed us of an "old man Doinel" type of collaboration between Truffaut and Leaud. Love On The Run is fine, but the clip-show approach lets it down in many ways.

To me it's all about flexibility. Being able to watch a movie that I want, when I want. Or if I don't have a specific want, being able to watch something new that I think will be great.

Not saying that's necessarily the right view, as it has led to scores (hundreds?) of unwatched BDs that I intend to watch someday. But for me, flexibility is the driver. Seeing something every 5 years at the cinema (especially at the mercy of someone else's schedule) isn't what I'm looking for as a collector. Maybe I'm just not as knowledgeable as others here.

Blu-ray collection: 47

I have to agree, the only time I force some kind of schedule is with movies I have yet to watch for a first time, other than that, maybe some movies get watched in more than once in a short period of time, others just when I suddenly get an urge to watch it maybe after years for whatever reason.

They were doing that for a while though weren't they? At least it seemed that way.

I'd really like to see Criterion focus on upgrading some of their early DVDs, which are looking pretty rough at this point. "Andrei Rublev", "The Ruling Class", "The Lady Eve", "Loves of a Blonde", "Juliet of the Spirits", "Red Beard", "Man Bites Dog", "Schizopolis", "The Pornographers", etc. I love all of those films and they are somewhat difficult to watch on an HD TV at this point. Watchable, but the PQ is really starting to become an issue as technology advances. The DVDs from 2007 or 2008 (like "Night on Earth" and "Dillinger is Dead") look better than a lot of low-grade BDs. Not saying I don't want those films on BD as well, but I'd love for Criterion to upgrade some of those early DVDs. Obviously, I'm sure there are feasibility issues with certain titles, and beggars can't be choosers, but a man can dream.

Oh, I had the impression that they didn't upgrade DVDs much as of late, but it turned out they only missed one in Nov & Jan. Hope they keep upgrading their DVDs even if they only release 4 titles per month next year!

The only DVD's I would like to see be upgraded to blu-ray are-
-Any Robert Altman films not yet upgraded
-Sisters
-The Last Emperor (Ok, already released, but in dire need of a re-release!)

Actually, if they make an blu-ray edition of the Beastie Boys Video Anthology, I would buy that instantaneously, regardless of price.

Criterion flash sale order placed on Monday, and it's currently on the UPS truck to be delivered to me today down here in Florida. Beautiful!

That was quick! I'm still waiting for a shipping notification for the 2 titles I ordered. I guess they got swamped with orders and are backed up a bit - no big deal.

Case in point, The Leopard. I wish they would have waited another year or two before releasing that one so they could have used the newer 4K transfer. I'm happy with my copy for now, and if they release an upgrade I'll still buy it, but I would have rather waited and got the 4K transfer.

I still have not received any shipment notifications. I got Boyhood, Short Cuts, and the Del Toro Trilogy. Looking forward to Short Cuts the most due to my obsession with Tom Waits haha.

All my orders are scheduled for today which is much quicker than I expected as well.

I just realized that I'll only be getting 5 Criterions this B&N sale. Gotta be my lightest sale since
I bought my first Criterion all those years ago.

Got my first order sent USPS and my second sent UPS will be here tomorrow. I received Mulholland Dr. today that I was going to give as a gift but it is anything but mint. I am going to have to ask for a replacement. There is even some gooey stuff on Naomi Watts' face (don't go there) that is under the shrink wrap.

My small order is expected to be delivered tomorrow...Cannot wait to start watching Dekalog...

Those who have watched it, since I have heard it has 10 different but themed stories that are probably not continuous, how important is the order? I am planning to watch in order but want to know this...

I love Tom Waits too. Any film starring him I have to own, including even Ironweed (which is possibly the most depressing film I've ever seen).
