4. The Room (2003)

Only one Criterion on the list, but still better than nothing.

"R.O.T.O.R." is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. "Dangerous Men" belongs on that list. "Dangerous Men" makes "The Room" look like a masterpiece.

I think the main reason is because they're prone to getting damaged during shipment. And unlike with plastic cases, you can't really replace a damaged case, unless you of course buy a brand new digipack.

@ mja345 list:

1. Stanley Kubrick - The Shining (1980)
2. Martin Scorsese - Taxi Driver (1976)
3. Robert Altman - 3 Women (1977)
4. Jonathan Demme - Something Wild (1986)
5. David Lynch - Blue Velvet (1986)
6. Francis Ford Coppola - The Conversation (1974)
7. Quentin Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs (1992)
8. Jean-Luc Godard - Pierrot le Fou (1965)
9. Alfred Hitchcock - Psycho (1960)
10. Werner Herzog - Aguirre, Wrath of God (1972) or David Cronenberg - Videodrome (1983)

Yeah, Dangerous Men has perhaps the most epic ending of all time. And R.O.T.O.R. is an important work in motion picture history because it warns us not to play God and be careful with technology.

The only movie in my top 10 that has a Criterion is The Lady Vanishes. Days of Heaven really wants to be in my top 10 so it may be 2 soon. Also, if the phantom page for Kelly Reichardt is an indication and we possibly get Wendy and Lucy, then it will be 2/3.

That probably explains it. Myself, I love the Criterion digipaks (and especially Digibooks, from Warner mostly). I wish every Criterion was issued with a softcover/slipcase. In my eyes it gives the film a more "classy" look and gives one the sense that care was put not into just the film, but in the whole presentation. The slip cases also give a nice impression that the films are like books. You can still file them firmly on a shelf with the spines showing.

My softcover "Mulholland Dr" with the slipcase is arguably the "greatest looking" Criterion I own. I also enjoyed the recent softcover for "Dr. Strangelove".

The site review of Dekalog is up right now, and it looks quite amazing.

I plan to own this Criterion Blu-ray of Dekalog, but I may not be buying it anytime soon, because it's not a limited edition that I need to hurry up for, and because I've got a ton of still-unwatched Criterion box sets on my shelf. I'm trying to reign in my tendency to blind-buy titles like this the first time that they go on sale, only to stockpile them away, survival-apocalypse-style, in my collection for that inevitable day when I'll have the time and the inclination to get around to watching them. I'm going to wait and grab this one in a year or two, after I chipped away at my unwatched stack of Criterions and other Blu-rays first.

Don't think that I won't be tempted when I see it at Barnes & Noble during next month's sale, though.
