Every one of them.
I'm dead serious, and I'm not being sarcastic. Every single time that I've revisited a Criterion title, I've picked up on nuances that I may have missed the first time through or even multiple times through, and that added understanding has enhanced my enjoyment. Solaris is a lead example of a title that has really worked its way into my psyche upon multiple viewings, but they all get better in my eyes the more that I see them. |

I always find something new to appreciate when I watch Seventh Seal. A very deep and profound film. Blow Out keeps getting better (besides that goofy ending), but I also studied it in a class at college, so that helps. And House just blows me away every time, can't wait to watch it again this week. |

RE: Rewatchability
I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to continue rewatching the same movies over and over and over again. I want to see many gems from around the world that I've never gotten the chance to see before either due to availability of said film (thanks Criterion for releasing obscure works) or because I've been stuck in the same vicious cycle of rewatching certain things in order to decide whether I want to keep them or not. Over this past year in particular, I'm realizing that not many films have high replay value for me. One reason for this is because I've seen some really great films in my life (Dekalog, In the Mood for Love, Mulholland Drive, etc.), which in turn diminishes the level of greatness for other films that I had seen, loved, and admired at one point in time (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Requiem for a Dream, films by Malick, etc.). The other main reason for lack of rewatchability for me is due to knowing the plot. I've seen 12 Angry Men and Rear Window numerous times in my life. I applaud them and consider them to be great films. However, no viewing is ever going to come close to my first viewing of these films. Furthermore, both films are incredibly campy and I already know how the film is going to end. It's hard for me to continue watching something like these two films as my enjoyment for them seems to diminish with each subsequent viewing. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

See, I will watch a film over and over just because of a small element, like the soundtrack, or for a single performance.
Yes there are many films I rewatch for entertainment or to pass time, but I love the effects a film has on me, how I can connect with certain characters, to a piece of music or a visual element.... I never sell film I own or watch, even if I didn't like the over all thing, because normally there is always something worth crediting or appreciating... even if it for one character or even just a certain scene... I dunno... I am a weirdo when it comes to watching films. ![]() |

It doesn't bother me at all to rewatch movies when I already know the outcome.
I've seen The Shawshank Redemption at least 50 times in my life, and I still get tense during certain scenes in the same way that I did when I saw the film for the first time. I always somehow get caught up in the vibe of a story, even after experiencing it multiple times. Of course, there are always offbeat films, like Pulp Fiction or Breathless, that I could see hundreds of times and still feel that I have no idea what's going to happen during the next scene. |

For me, it's the combination of entertainment and artistry that make a film stand up to repeated viewings. Hitchcock is the perfect example, as most of his films deliver effortlessly on both counts. David Lean, too. And in many other films I have across the spectrum of genres and directors.

I don't watch the same films very often, with the amount of films I watch I found that after three years or so, I can watch most movies and enjoy them almost as if it was my first.
But that is not the whole point, as Polaroid points out most of the time for me it is about the emotions the movies provoke me, be it because of the themes or the music, etc, but for me those are not so coupled with the specifics of the plot, then there is also the more complex movies where you feel like can never get the full insight of the ideas, and always get something new depending on the point in life you watch them, they never get old. |
