...so this has happened seven or eight times since I've been with her.

If my calculations are correct, she should be coming up on another transformation sometime this weekend...starting to do the over heat thing. A few times she's gone pre panther and accused me of getting the bed too warm and starts flinging the blankets everywhere..wtf! Three times I've woken up with scratch marks on my back and no memory of how they got there.

My guitar and tv room has a small fridge but it can only hold about 4 days worth of food and beer. I'm thinking when she hits full blown menopause I could attempt to chain her outside. but in our area we have black bears and coyotes...when she's in her condition she would attract them.

...I would then worry about the safety of the bears and coyotes.

So I don't know if any cat-related movies are good for me right now.

I have enough trouble sleeping as it is.

Come on Ray coming from you I know we're both in agreement...

Does anyone have or know which releases come with a book/novel?

I've never seen either.

Do you like the original?

Is it scary at all?

PS...happy birthday.

I gained ten pounds just looking at that cake.

...is that caramel-covered popcorn?

+1 by a long shot.

It's so good that the Moroder score isn't even the main selling point.

Also. Its worth seeing if you're a fan of Neon Demon as this tweet illustrates

Red River and Picnic at Hanging Rock are the only two I can recall of the top of my head.

Mr. Arkadin, too, although that is only DVD right now.

I read it on a plane ride to India a couple years ago. Enjoyable. I tried to watch one of the 3 versions of the film and couldn't do it. I was perturbed by the pronunciation of some of the main character names - including "Arkadin" itself. The personality of the main character didn't seem to fit the way he was described in the book either.

I actually don't know the backstory... is it that people are unsure whether or not Welles wrote the novel?

I know that most are talking about actual novels that preceded a film, but one of the reasons I adore Digibooks, and the booklets in many Criterion releases, is they add "companion insight" to the film you will watch.

In a perfect world, where costs were no issue, I wish every (good) film came with a book. Not to impose upon the viewer how he or she should interpret a film, but just to offer insight into its making and to provide companion material on why it was made and what can be uncovered by viewing it.

Wait?! The person with a Neon Demon avatar disagrees ?!

I must be high on meth....but then again I love anything remade/redone with dollops of visual excess and sex. For me, Hitchcock's true significance is in giving birth to DePalma.

Before I ruin all Cred, I must say this Val Lewton film is a godsend however:

I think that the 1942 version of Cat People is the better movie with regard to story and cinematography.

Since I'm a 1980s kid, however, I'll happily admit that I revisit the 1982 remake more often.

The main selling point of the 1982 version for me...

It took me a while to find a suitable work-safe photo of Nastassja Kinski from Cat People to post here. It was really difficult work sifting through the multitude of the nude photos of Kinski from the web in order to find this. If there's one thing that running marathons has taught me, though, it's to stay persistent and never give up even during the toughest times.

I was hoping that McCabe & Mrs. Miller would include the book, too. The novel is long OOP and commands big bucks on the used market.

Yeah, but The Neon Demon is far better than anything Shraeder ever made. And the original Cat People is a brilliant film.

It's not even close.

Meh, I was much more enamored with Annette O'Toole in the same film.

I love me some Nastassia Kinski, but don't forget Annette O'Toole.
