Hey, don't get me wrong. I loved Nastassia. I had this hanging, framed, in my room when I was a kid:

But that still doesn't make her version better than the original.

I just got back from seeing Inferno and have to admit, its not as bad as the reviews all say.

It def. won't be in the Criterion Collection ever most likely (which is prob. good, since we have Salo instead).

Well, I hated that first one (whatever it was called), and couldn't even make it through the second. So I'm assuming that I won't enjoy this at all.

The first was The Da Vinci Code and the second was Angels and Demons. I actually watched those 2 the last 2 nights in preparation for Inferno.

And yeah, you don't want to see this film if you're not a fan of these kinds of films.

I think the first release of Short Cuts on DVD back in 2004 had the novel with it.

But in later days, they removed it.

They should've included it with this new blu-ray edition.

So if my mum doesn't like the movie, she can read the book.

She still isn't happy at me for showing her Nashville.

She doesn't like Barton Fink either.

But don't hurt her.

I'll just show her Troll 2, Birdemic, and The Room.

It wasn't a novel. It was a collection of short stories.

And the collection, with an intro by Altman, was remaindered in bookstores a few years ago, so I expect it's the same content in a different cover and should be readily available with the slightest digging

I agree, O'Toole>Kinski in "Cat People". Kinski is obviously a beautiful woman, but O'Toole is definitely hotter in "Cat People".

Now I want a movie featuring Peter O'Toole and Klaus Kinski as rival drag queens in a bar with a cat-themed name. And O'Toole would obviously be the prettier of the two.

Oh, Pete would no doubt look better in drag than Klaus. Klaus would make a hideous woman.

I dated a woman like this. In fact, I think many of us have, at one time or another. What I'm talking about goes beyond the normal body chemistry changes all women experience. Some take it to another level.

But, this woman was also a real tigress in one other place, so that more than made up for it to where those other few days were not so much an issue.

...so this has happened seven or eight times since I've been with her.

If my calculations are correct, she should be coming up on another transformation sometime this weekend...starting to do the over heat thing. A few times she's gone pre panther and accused me of getting the bed too warm and starts flinging the blankets everywhere..wtf! Three times I've woken up with scratch marks on my back and no memory of how they got there.

My guitar and tv room has a small fridge but it can only hold about 4 days worth of food and beer. I'm thinking when she hits full blown menopause I could attempt to chain her outside. but in our area we have black bears and coyotes...when she's in her condition she would attract them.

...I would then worry about the safety of the bears and coyotes.

So I don't know if any cat-related movies are good for me right now.

I have enough trouble sleeping as it is.

We share a love of digibooks/digipaks. I've built quite a nice collection of each. Completely agree that they are the fillet mignon of blu-ray issues. Aesthetically, they just trump regular issues in every way. I appreciate the time put into their package design. And, then there are the extra thick booklets, which are often nearly as great as the movies themselves.

In a perfect world, where costs were no issue, I wish every (good) film came with a book. Not to impose upon the viewer how he or she should interpret a film, but just to offer insight into its making and to provide companion material on why it was made and what can be uncovered by viewing it.

For some reason I thought L'Avventura had the smallest essay section in my criterion blu collection but I opened up Traffic tonight just to have a read of the booklet, except it's even smaller haha. The essay is only 2 pages and the rest of the leaflet is tech specs and standard art... Wow. Not that it matters with a release so stacked on the disc. The commentaries alone, man.

There's also the very similar Alice Cooper photographs by Avedon.
