Repo Man is aight. Can't say I understood it the first time, but on a rewatch I liked it a little more (and found it a grade funnier).

Finally, I might have time to catch up on my unwatched pile. Not sure if four years would be enough. Can we persuade him to stay a bit longer?

I picked up the Trilogía de Guillermo del Toro and The Executioner last night. I was able to use my second 20% coupon on the GDT set (with the first going to the purchase of Dekalog), which brought the price down to $36 plus tax. That was the highlight of the day. The rest has been all down hill for me.

Dvdbeaver review is up for The Exterminating Angel.
HD transfer of same master used for DVD
Same extras.
... Why did they leave it so long to upgrade when it clearly could've been plopped out years ago?

Maybe they were waiting years in the hopes of a new 4K restoration being done, but that never happened, so they just went ahead and released what they had. It looks very good despite being an older master.

I wouldn't be surprised if something like Le Samourai gets a similar treatment, since Criterion has surely been waiting years for a proper restoration of it, with nothng new in sight.

Meanwhile while the entire online community thinks the world is going to pot...

I picked up my remaining 11 DVD titles with this sale and I'm now officially Title Complete!! I have a handful of BD upgrades/single disk titles to get during Christmas (Brief Encounter, Woman in the Dunes, Night Train to Munich), but otherwise I'm on the Criterion Maintenance Plan from here on out.

Where's the moderator when you need it? This is the Criterion thread, not a political thread. All these posts have to go. Go cry somewhere else.

There's a moderator somewhere around. I posted a (very brief; one short sentence) comment yesterday that got deleted.

The regulars have had their say, and it's for the most part gone back to normal here.

Does anyone want a year-end poll conducted for Best Release, Best Cover, Best Box set, etc?

I've done them the past couple years. I'm trying to gauge interest level.

It IS going to pot though, three more states just voted for legal rec use

On topic I just got in my $40 preorder of the Lone Wolf and Cub set. I've seen Shogun Assassin countless times but never any of the actual Lone Wolf and Cub movies so this is exciting, can't wait to start watching these later today. Read about the hidden compartment in the dedicated thread too and couldn't stop grinning when I opened it, such a cool thing to include.

Love this (and appreciate the work you put into it). Have already been trying to decide what my favorite releases of the year are.
