That would be great. Winter Light is one of my favorite Bergman films (can you feel the coldness sinking in?) and the other two book end it fantastically.

And like you I find it very hard to rank Bergman films but if I had too my favorites would be:

Wild Strawberries
Persona
Cries and Whispers (I like pain.)
The Seventh Seal
Fanny and Alexander
Winter Light
Through a Glass Darkly
The Silence
Smiles of a Summer Night
Summer With Monika

I've read people's raves about the movie, but sometimes, seeing is truly believing. And though I'm only about halfway though, I'm loving it.

I just can't believe this is Truffaut's directorial debut. He's in complete command of every scene; I feel like I'm spinning inside that giant centrifuge at Funfair, because I'm having to strenuously force myself to just watch the film in its entirety, instead of stopping, and repeating certain scenes. It's one thing to employ a city backdrop because of its aesthetic. It's quite another to make that city an actual character in the film, and Truffaut manages to capture the grandeur of Paris in a way I don't know if I've ever seen before. The opening shots are beautifully done. Looking through Henri Decaë's filmography, I see why. I loved Le silence de la mer, and now this really makes me want to see Léon Morin, Priest and Le Samourai. And the wide open expanses of Paris are in such immediate, and stark contrast to the almost claustrophobic feeling that threatens to overwhelm the viewer in Antoine's home. But Truffaut walks the tightrope, never staying in one shot long enough to where it becomes suffocating. Brilliantly done by Misters Truffaut and Decaë.

I'm already feeling so bad for Antoine. What a messed up home life.
Something else that's perfect in this film is the score. It's so damn catchy that I find myself whistling or humming parts of it after each viewing. Especially the upbeat music played during the scenes of Antoine and his friend having fun.

I only really started listening to his music after hearing 'Nevermind' from True Detective season 2.

Picked up 3 more titles last night at B&N, all blind buys (McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Lone Wolf & Cub and Night Train To Munich). Also got a membership card for the 10% off - not sure how often I'll use it but it's always nice to receive additional discounts, especially for traditionally overpriced items at the retailer.

My only problem is, not only are most of the Criterion titles I own blind buys, most are still unwatched. Is anyone else in this situation?

Do any of you have any ecommendations for the next film I should watch of his?
I'd say go for Wild Strawberries or Through A Glass Darkly, but the man has made so many incredible films that you can hardly go wrong with any of his well-received movies. I've never compiled a top list of his movies, but if I had to I'd say:

1. Fanny and Alexander
2. Persona
3. Wild Strawberries
4. Summer With Monika
5. Through A Glass Darkly
6. Seventh Seal
7. Sawdust and Tinsel
8. Cries and Whispers
9. Winter Light
10. The Silence

And the thing is, I absolutely love every single one of these. Here's hoping the Faith Trilogy blu-ray upgrade is imminent!

Are there any other people out there that will continue to watch their criterion bluray of The Man Who fell to Earth simply because you paid top dollar for it?

Most of my Criterions are blind buys too. I'm currently between 65-70% watched percentage which is decent for me considering how close we are to the previous flash sale (frequently after a big sale I drop below 60%). Hope to be at 75-80% by year's end.

Yes, but I didn't pay top dollar. Got a deal (at least to me) ($60) a few years ago. Now it's going for hundreds of dollars online.

Do you folks think that $120 is a reasonable price for me to sell my like-new copy of The Third Man, which comes with the booklet, the original DigiPack, and a custom replacement case?

Similarly, do you think $80 is a reasonable price to sell my like-new copy of Eclipse Series 6?

Yes. The going rate for the blu-ray on ebay is about $120-$190.

Wonder if it will keep its value with the new UK release? Saw in HMV today, seems like a nice set, only £19 I think...

Even if it doesn't keep its value, its valuable to me because I love collecting out of print Criterions (a guilty pleasure I admit).

I couldn't tell you what would be the interest in The Eclipse, but I recently bought The Third Man (and the OOP Sex World) for $80 total.
