jshaide
MTRodaba2468
oildude
NoirFan

I keep hoping that one of my high matches will have two X chromosomes and live in my neighborhood, but that's not the case so far.

...and I just realized, while looking at my collection, that my collection number now matches my birth year, 1972. Cool! Sadly (or happily, I guess), that number will probably change when my mail arrives at my doorstep on Monday.
My top five matches are:

Code:
54.7% xanderville
49.8% Kleptoniq
49.6% quest28412
45.8% mallomar
43.6% thepinkstorm
I have never seen any of these people in this thread...has anyone else?

And yes... would be truly nice to match with a pair of x chromosomes who has the same taste in movies.

Exactly! Rumble Fish and Punch Drunk are important films no doubt, whether you like them or not. Another important film that Criterion needs to get working on its A Bronx Tale.

My Number 1 match was Xanderville too. We have almost 600 of the same titles. How can, Im assuming, he be your #1 and my #1 but you aren't in my top 25 lol

We are living in crazy times my friends. Haha

nah, man 'twould be extremely boring to date yourself - haven't you ever heard opposites attract? not sure what the opposite of Criterion is exactly...Anchor Bay maybe? maybe a company that only puts out crappy DVD's or maybe your soul mate doesn't even like to watch movies.

not trolling but seriously Punch Drunk Love is on my 10 most hated movies (that I have actually seen... unfortunately) list. saw it in the theater when it originally came out. which I suppose doesn't make it unimportant. I don't suppose Criterion has made or is working on an issue of Lars Von Trier's Epidemic? that's #1 on my most hated movies, also The 25th Hour. I own Coward Robert Ford but personally I'm glad they're not going to do it, there are lots more deserving titles out there.

edit : I added my personal top 10 to my signature, but I can't see it, does anyone know if I did it right, should I be able to see my own sig in my posts or not?

Or any studio for that matter. The U.K. Transfer is not very good (to put it mildly).

Why are Larisa Shepitko's films so hard to get and why did Criterion release only two of them? My local theatre is cooperating with the Russian Gosfilmofond institute and showing all of her movies (incl. her student work Heat) and they are looking lovely!

I'd just love to own her films on physical media, and with Ascent being as revered as it is I don't get why there isn't more releases.

We have different tastes in film, that is for sure. The Jesse James film would be in my Top 10 wish list for Criterion. Not only is it a great film on its own, and one far too few people have seen (though, to be honest, there is probably small group of people to whom it would really appeal), but the present Blu-ray is simply not anywhere near up to the standards of the film itself.

As to the signature question, yes you should be able to see your own signature. So, I don't know what happened.

Zentropa is the Qliphotic inversion of The Darjeeling Limited...

I hope Criterion releases a Element of Crime/Epidemic/Zentropa BD box set next year. I bet they could even fit Medea on a disc which is one film they need to acquire at all costs.

I love you.

Would love Epidemic on Criterion Bluray and Medea would make a great supplement, or even a nice stand alone release!

Also curious what what the stereotype is.

On a different, yet similar note, the circle jerk that all collectors and fans of the Criterion product were recently accused of partaking in is most likely a result of that person's own purchasing regrets.

I'm not too sure what the participants in that discussion were trying to get at.

Finished The Apu Trilogy, I must say they're the most heart wrenching, yet lovely, films I've seen. The characters Aparna, she is really attractive, in Apur Sansar; Sarbajaya and Harihar in Aparajito.
[Show spoiler]I've never seen loss come so suddenly; I didn't expect it.
Oh man...I just felt so vulnerable to life. It got me thinking about my own education, ambition, and family. I highly recommend everyone to watch them, they're magnificent films.

I despise people who live in NYC.

"Tonight, see THE SQUID AND THE WHALE + Q&A with Noah Baumbach at @MetrographNYC ..."

Ugh. Like I wouldn't love to be there.

Eh, Metrograph is ok. Overpriced and blandly designed. Watching it on a big screen at home followed by the Baumbach interview probably gives the same effect .
