Maybe you're not a Visual Learner. I could see where you'd have excellent Logical\Verbal skills. While you obviously appreciate visual stimulation your strong interpersonal and logical abilities may have influenced critical learning skills over the years.

I've seen that as well and it's confusing. I remember it being available on DVD but it definitely wasn't Criterion.

Scratching the memory banks, I seem to recall this being part of the Janus Films collection, hence the Criterion Collection connection. Very good film based on one of D. H. Lawrence's better short stories.

Your memory banks are good-It was part of the Janus Films tv package that ran on our local PBS station back in the '70-'80s. That's where I first saw it and a lot of other films that eventually turned up as Criterion titles. Great memories-every weekday afternoon they (WETA) showed a Janus Film.

They used to distribute Criterion's releases and had a deal with Janus (the Classics Collection, I think) and released a number of their titles on DVD (the Zatoichi films and Pale Flower are former HVe DVDs that Criterion eventually released themselves.)

It was released on DVD by Home Vision Entertainment, which at the time was one of Janus's partners in Criterion. Other Criterion/HVE connections are:

The Zatoichi series (or, at least, most of them) was released by HVE on DVD, and later on BD/DVD by Criterion.

Victim was released by HVE on DVD, and later appeared in Eclipse #25: Basil Dearden's London Underground.

Some laserdiscs released by Voyager (Janus's original Criterion partner) were later released by HVE on DVD.

I'd drop dead if they had a 2-pack with Truth or Dare and the full Blond Ambition Tour (which was never available even on DVD in the US).

And then I'd be resurrected from the dead if Evita became another Laserdisc -> Blu upgrade.

Watching TCM's Stars Behind Bars films this month I rewatched Brute Force for the ???th time and for the ???th time-Where is the upgrade? If ever a film lived up to its title, this is it. And that finale!
