I've only seen three of Malick's films, but I've only liked one (Badlands). The Thin Red Line didn't move me at all, and I really detested the voiceover in Days of Heaven. I almost picked up The New World at B&N during their sale, but thought the better of it.

What if the window in the drawing is for The Window (1949)? Oh man, wouldn't that be something?

Watched the Criterion version of Lady Snowblood.
I still think the color grading is messed up here. I'm 98% sure there's NO WAY this is even close to what it looked like in theatres originally. The teal is turned up way too much in some placed and it looks as if there has been over-boosted contrast placed on white at times, too. Yuki's pale complexion seems more artificial-looking than I remember (Kaji is obviously is wearing a ton of makeup here too). That said, it's still a great genre movie that adapts the manga in an original and thoughtful manner but still manages to be faithful to the spirit of the manga. I'm a big fan of the manga, but its mixture of bizarre exploitation skeezyness (the manga originally ran in a Japanese adult men's magazine similar to Maxim/Playboy) and female ass-kicking probably would have limited the film's audience and rep (although I would have still liked it if they did keep those things).
