Just like in Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, nothing really happens in Winter Sleep, so if that's your idea of a good time neither film is probably for you.
However, if you love a quiet and slow meditation of complex emotional, familial, and societal issues, then Winter Sleep is 195 minutes of slow boil melodrama about a hotel owner and his relationships with his wife, sister, customers, and tenants. I loved it!
I picked up the UK disc for lack of any US option and I'm very happy with the quality.

There is a US blu-ray, it came out some 2 months after the UK release, but the latter is still better because unlike the barebones US release, it has a huge making of, which covers most of the major scenes in the film, and the entire process of iteration and direction.

I feel the same. I also feel they should fill in some more Wong Kar-Wai and King Hu (especially my favorite, The Fate of Lee Khan), Kenji Mizoguchi (especially The 47 Ronin), and Masaki Kobayashi.

And release Zhang Yi-Mou's and Chen Kai-Ge's early films. And I'd love to see them release some Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Tian Zhuang-Zhuang, Mabel Chung, and Stanley Kwan.

Some specific films I'd love to see from them would be:

A restored, definitive director's cut of John Woo's Bullet in the Head
Shōhei Imamura's Black Rain
Tsui Hark's Peking Opera Blues
Hiroshi Inagaki's Chūshingura (another version of The 47 Ronin)
Xie Fei's Women from the Lake of Scented Souls
Huang Shu-Qin's A Soul Haunted by Painting

Clara Law's Autumn Moon

Scenes has a German release with both cuts AND the sequel Saraband in one set. no English subs, but I've contemplated adding my own. No idea on the quality of the HD master, though. Sawdust & Tinsel has a UK release (in a set with Dreams, It Rains on Our Love, A Ship Bound for India, So Close to Life) and I have that.

There are no rights issues holding up the Bergman films, just lack of HD masters/remasters.

Omg, am I dreaming or what... Elle Fanning & Greta Gerwig - two of my current favorites in one movie.

Unbelievable. Words can't even describe my excitement.

So far I've only seen the trailer, but damn this looks like a fantastic film. Thank you Hollywood.

... and of course I'd love if Criterion releases it in future. In fact imma ask Greta to start lobbying pronto.

So man you unbelievable Asian films out there that are ripe for the criterion collection, but will probably never get remastered in HD or released by them. And people are so quick to abandon DVD as a format (this coming from someone who primarily collects Blu-ray too).
