While, I would love for a Criterion edition to happen...

For now my Godard boxset from UK - seems pretty good to me.

I felt almost guilty paying merely $20 during Black Friday sales at Amazon UK.

The transfer is beautiful. And sadly, it ain't coming from CC anytime soon. So you're either waiting for SC to release it stateside (whilst the blu ray gods laugh hysterically at you), or you're getting the set.

I think there's a great deal of irony when people say they don't buy an all region player due to the money they would spend, yet they are the ones consistently buying Twilight time titles that come out in the UK months later, and miss out on a set such as this that has dropped to $25 before. Even if they did a standalone Alphaville release in the US, it would probably cost the same amount! It's equally baffling seeing someone shell out $ for something like the Alphaville CC dvd when even the dvd from the UK looks better and can be had on the cheap.

I could have sworn that I checked a while ago and this wasn't available?

WTF is wrong with me?! I mean, yeah, I'll be double dipping on Breathless and Contempt, but so what? (Actually, if we include DVDs, I'll be triple dipping on those, and double dipping on A Woman is a Woman.)

I'm seriously beginning to think that I DREAMT that I saw that this wasn't available, because I can't imagine another possibility.

THANK YOU to you guys for pointing out my insane delusion!

PS: Just ordered, and it's $36 delivered from Britain?! Wow. Now there's a deal!

Word.

Totally agree, if I hadn't gone region free already -- this boxset would've made me!

5 Godard films inc. Made in USA! ... How can someone resist that?!.

What's funny is the direct reason I went region-free wasn't anything as "deep" as Godard -- it was because I really wanted both Ghost World and Sliding Doors, which I found Reg. B from Germany.

So far, I have a few imports on top of those from Japan (a couple Ozu films) and some other stuff that is escaping my mind right now. Well, and this terrific Godard set. OH! And of course the AMAZING Eureka Steelbook of The Passion of Joan of Arc.

Why I waited so long, I have no idea. I do hate the remote, though.

You can usually tell who's more reliable than others with some guesswork. Usually third party sellers that have been around a while and have a lot of reviews (+1000) trending positive have a better reputation. Also if the seller still has copies after you place your order, chances are they have multiple copies and it's not just some guy's copy that he's getting rid of after having watched it. 60% of my Amazon purchases are actually marketplace sellers and they are indeed new.

Remember that you can always complain to Amazon about their third party sellers. They are pretty tough on shady sellers and for a third party seller it generally is best to keep your nose clean.

Speaking of Malle, what are the chances of a Criterion release of Atlantic City? Sure would be nice.

Oh, I would move mountains for Scarlett! ... Wish I had known about the German import!

Being region free feels beyond amazing! so many films out there...

I can surely bombared Criterion with suggestions or perhaps get what's readily available right now.

Highly recommend the UK releases of The Long Good Friday and Sternberg's The Last Command.

I'll definitely look into those. Unfortunately I've been bleeding my account dry lately. So, it may be a while. Heh.

I've got these as "for sure" coming up:

The Before Trilogy
45 Years
Blow-Up
Nocturnal Animals
Arrival
La La Land
Manchester by the Sea
Jackie
A Married Woman (already ordered)
Godard box set (already ordered)

and I just picked up:

His Girl Friday
Something Wild

and a few others.

So, I've kind of been a bit crazy lately. I may need to hold back for a few weeks.

Oh, I can certainly understand your situation.

Criterion or not... Those are some awesome movies.

Got almost similar titles on order... I just hope once these start arriving - that I get enough time to watch them.

Yeah, me too.

Thing is, every year this time of year I start missing out on stuff as the Australian Open is on ESPN2 from 9pm ET to 7AM ET each night for two weeks. And yeah, do I want to watch great films?! Absolutely. Do I get sucked into stuff like last night's Nadal v Zverev 5 set match that I can't turn off? Yes.

And tonight, later, my girl Angie (Kerber) is taking on Coco Vandewegh. So it's going to be crazy.

You just reminded me of those good ol' days... Sharapova was her name.

What those monsters did to her career, so sad.

Ah just hope she gets back in the game and starts kickin' some arse!
