Not necessarily.

A lot of debate/controversy over shrink wrapping of CC titles, and the stickers. Read any of the B&N 50% sale threads here in particular, and you'll find people adamant that if the shrink wrap is not of the looser "folded corner" variety, and/or there is no sticker, it must be a re-wrap and therefore possibly a used/returned product.

However, I have had titles ordered directly from Criterion that did not have the sticker, and that had the tighter shrink wrap.

Thanks, credit goes to to whomever I stole it from. Being a huge John Wayne and Devo fan, I just couldn't resist !

With those two, I always figured I would wait on Criterion's blu-ray (wishful thinking) and enjoy the DVD until that time.
Also, semi-related: Am I mistaken in remembering that it was originally announced as one of Criterion's first ever blu-rays, and was, for whatever reason, simply never released?
I don't recall if Criterion ever announced it as a Blu-ray release, but if so, they obviously didn't get around to it before they started losing the rights to StudioCanal films left and right. I do know that one of the casualties of that was Ran, which Criterion had been apparently prepping for Blu-ray before they lost the rights.

Until StudioCanal's contract with Lionsgate ends, and they re-think their position regarding licensing titles to Criterion on an individual basis, you're going to be waiting a long time for an American release. In the meantime, if you're not region free, there's always the Canadian BD. Assuming it's better than the Lionsgate one, which is probably a big assumption, if they got the same master from StudioCanal that Lionsgate got.

When they announced that they were going to start releasing Blu-rays they issued a list of 13 titles that they were going to issue on Blu-ray and CONTEMPT was one of them. However, unlike RAN, CONTEMPT never got an official announcement/release date.

Me too, I could have made a fortune ! But I would have put a little slit in the front and secretly coated the inside with Nair, that would have been hilarious !! And what the f**k happened to Cher's face? And Madonna's british accent? And Ashley Judd's career?

I would like to think that it is Le jour se leve (The Day Begins,) but I have not heard anything specifically.

Another new title recently added to Filmstruck with the Criterion logo:

In the Loop, this is one I really didn't get back when I watched, but it got excellent response from most audiences.

Oh I saw the pic earlier but forgot to check out what film it was for. I was wondering if it was In The Loop. He was a magnificent c*** in that film lol That's funny about the subtitles too I didn't quite get it all either because I don't know a lot about politics.

That EXACT same thing happened to me with my copy of Naked Lunch! Send Mulvaney an email to replace the case and cover, and he'll do it for free.

Oh, thank you very much for the suggestion. I wonder if I have read anything about him before. Does he work for them?

To be honest, I don't know.

In fact, I don't think anyone knows.

You can see his name on Criterion's website in the contacts page, but that's it.

It's all been rumours and speculation onto whether he actually exists.

May need to ask Ray Jackson for help.

No, he's not a real person. It's just the fake name to use for customer service.

Think of Mulvaney as the Borg collective. He is not one person. He is Borg.

Resistance is futile.
