It's coming from a 4K restoration, so I'd be surprised if it isn't superior to the MoC release.

It's also getting JP release on Mar. 24th, sourced from the restoration.

Next week...really?! That's how fast a month passes? I guess "Nights of Cabiria", "Roman Holiday", "Lonely Are the Brave", "A Very Long Engagement", and "The Day of the Jackal" would be a long-shot?

One would think the fact that it is long oop is a factor?

Night on Earth (Jarmusch)
The Goalie's Anxiety will inevitably be released by Criterion. It's part of their Wim Wenders retrospective.

Any predictions for Wednesday except for GHOST WORLD? Or realistic hopes?

They'll repackage The 400 Blows and Breathless one more time, for good measure.

As we're getting into the summer months would be great to have a fun movie like Sixteen Candles. Or even Mommie Dearest since May is Mother's Day!

Thanks! I thought only B&N did significant sales of these, so haven't been paying any attention other than Amazon, BB. Anyway, got several that I missed out on last summer and cheaper to boot, so only missing a couple of newer releases.

I think SIXTEEN will pop up in June in time for the sale. For some reason, I can't see it coming out the same month as GHOST WORLD which is all but cemented for May.

I'm hoping for THEY LIVE BY NIGHT. I think we'll see DHEEPAN as well, as it'll be a year since it came out. If not that, I'm always hopeful for some Romanian titles.

I'm really looking forward to The Lower Depths finally getting upgraded. Both films.

I watched Chimes in January for the first time and was blown away. Retroactively, I've changed my top blu-ray releases last year to put that one on top.

My realistic hope would be Stalker, with They Live by Night a close second!

I'll guess:

Ghost World
Elevator to the Gallows
Taipei Story
The Lure
In the Heat of the Night

I have to hold out hope that Criterion will put out at least one upgrade for May. So if not Elevator to the Gallows, perhaps Jeanne Dielman or Ugetsu. Also just throwing In the Heat of the Night out there since it's the film's 50th anniversary this year and could benefit from a newer scan. Looking back, Sidney Poitier had a very nice year in 1967 too, with ItHoN, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and To Sir, with Love.
