I'd like to see Naked Lunch hit blu-ray also, but what are the odds it will be coming any time soon.

(I'd also like to see The Sheltering Sky and The Passenger on blu-ray, too, but not expecting them this decade . And from Criterion, even less likely.)

Is the UK version of Modern Times going to be the superior? Heard some rumors that the criterion-release was a bad cut or something?

The ratings on The Thin Red Line.... and those screenshots, my god!

September 28th will be Christmas at my house.

Has The Passenger been rumored? I'd love to see that get a Criterion release.

BTW, rarely will you ever see an all 5 star rating that TTRL received. This seems to be CC's masterpiece so far. A must own.

Thanks for that. I'm surprised I did not catch that before...

They'd have to get Jack's permission as he owns the film.

I'm looking forward to Charade. Never seen this film before but reading the summary I know I'll like it. Oh, and Audrey Hepburn in 1080p doesn't hurt.

I've seen all but a handful of CC blu-ray offerings. Out of the ones I have seen these two have impressed me the most:

color: Days of Heaven
b/w: Last Year at Marienbad

I consider them must owns. Days of Heaven is an incredibly beautiful picture and CC's work on the blu-ray is immaculate-- it's eye popping. The Marienbad disc is beyond praise. The b/w is flawless.

TTRL looks to be another must own from our friends at Criterion.

My top two for color are Days of Heaven (not a tough choice, considering the transfer is great and it's considered arguably the most beautifully filmed movie of all-time) and Everlasting Moments (because I think the look of the film is incredible and captures the essence of how the film was supposed to look.

For black and white, I would go with Last Year at Marienbad because the use of black and white is very effective, and also Vivre Sa Vie because I think the transfer is just incredible.

Just a heads up. Familyvideo.com has an online coupon code: Fall5Off usable between 9/10 and 9/12 only good for $5 off an order of $50+. Their regular prices of $25.99 for almost any Criterion Blu-Ray is very good. Discount is also applicable to future releases. I ordered the following. Works out to $24.50 each if you order two at a time.

http://www.familyvideo.com

That's messed up. I paid $39 for Breathless on C's site alone. I could of got Thin Red Line for $10 then. Oh well, I wanted to finally get a $50 gift card (so close) and got the movie I wanted most.

A good one to start out with. Polanski films are very easy to like.

I collect Audrey Hepburn items along with Kurosawa and George Lucas. Named my youngest daughter Audrey.
Yeah, I'm excited too!

Wow, thanks. That's a great deal. The BBS set is only $82.99. Has anyone ordered from Family Video? I'm weird, I get nervous when I order from a place for the first time. Almost like I'm afraid they'll send me something phony, or it'll come a year late

Family Video is very reliable. It's a well established internet retailer and I've bought from them many times with zero issues.

I watched John Huston's Wise Blood on Criterion DVD the other night, and I can't imagine it looking any better on bluray, but I'd like to find out if it does someday.

Cool, thanks again. Yea, I just get too accustomed to using Amazon (Or Barnes and Noble during the sale), for movie purchases. It's usually well priced, and everything always comes on time.

Family Video's $1.99 shipping option isn't as fast as Amazon's but it's pretty good. Nowhere remotely as bad as Deep Discount's snail mail.

Off-topic, I know, but shockingly I received The Lives of Others and A River Runs Through It from Deep Discount today--I ordered them on Sunday and didn't get a shipping email until Wednesday.
