People who admired Robert Osborne, please also consider posting at the dedicated thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=289321 ... it makes me sad that so few people have posted. :/

I will truly miss Mr. Osborne and his wonderful cinematic insights.

Organize?... Yeah, sure.

Godards are next to the Mary Poppins, then there's Frances Ha and Kurosawas...

Bergmans and Austin Powers... side by side... Who would've thought?

... John Wick and All That Jazz.

I received my flash sale titles today and everything was all good until I got to Still Walking, which was already opened. I haven't tested the disc, but I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with it.

I really dig the top two covers for Stalker. Hope they go with something like those instead of the close-up on a face.

One Eyed Jacks is really a movie that is fascinating almost purely due to its mercurial star and the circumstances of its production. The film really is bursting with potential and intention, is filmed beautifully and has some good moments, but the true depth is found within the supplements which give it much-needed context, IMO. It was one of my favorite releases of 2015.

The only way to organize them is of course alphabetical by director and then chronologically.

One of my four orders arrived today from the flash sale. It's the Criterions Designs book. Okay, not a flash sale item, but I used one of my $50 rewards certificates from buying films during the flash sale.

The book is even more beautiful than I imagined.

I have mine organized by spine number, but I'm out of shelf space so now they're kind of just scatterrd in small piles on top of the shelf.

Those members over at CriterionForum.org do not mess around.

King Lear, Lost in America, and Straw Dogs in less than one day.

3 By Albert Brooks. Make it happen CC!!

Real Life
Modern Romance (!!!)
& Lost in America

I have a soft spot for his 4th movie, Defending Your Life, but it's probably not on the same level for most as the three above.

I'm definitely gonna have to dig into my nest egg for a Criterion release of Lost in America.

Very sad news indeed. I average 1 or 2 movies a week on TCM and I always loved his intro/outros. I agree that they are in goods hands with Ben.

Mine are sorted into two sections - standard clear case and digipak/boxsets. Standard cases sorted by spine, other packaging mostly sorted by spine, with some larger sets (Tati, Cassavettes) out of order.

I think someone mentioned this and I missed the quote button, but looks like Stalker too.

Absolutely!
Our cable system didn't carry TCM until a few years after it became available. I remember wanting it so bad and envying those who were able to see it. I first saw Robert Osborne when he visited Joe Bob Briggs' show on TNT and saw how personable he was. Great sense of humor too when the two hosts would discuss the differences (and similarities!) of the kinds of films they hosted on their respective stations.

Anything else is madness.
Mad?! Mad, you say?! You bet I'm mad! Moo hah hah....

I have Criterions shelved together, by spine number. Certain other "boutique" labels (Kino, Cohen, WAC, et alia) I shelve similarly. Animation I shelve together, by studio (Ghibli, Pixar, Disney, etc.) then chronologically. Series/franchises I shelve by genre (SF, Spy/Thriller, Crime, Western, other) then by series designation (by surname if it's a person, so Jason Bourne follows James Bond). Foreign language films (other then ones from the "boutique" labels) are shelved by country/language. TV series are shelved in an arcane way that would take too long to describe. Films that don't fall into the above categories are shelves alphabetically.

Oh, and Christmas movies have their own special spot. My wife loves watching them during the (appropriate) holidays, and she doesn't want to have to hunt for them, so we keep them together for the sake of her sanity (which I have doubts about anyway, given that she married me).

On edit: Forgot to mention that I have all my DigiBooks together (except for the ones for animated films, which are interfiled with the non-DigiBook animated films). SteelBooks, however, are not separated out. I also have "collections" shelved together, alphabetically by person, if person-based (eg., Hitchcock Classic Collection, Audrey Hepburn Collection, Frank Sinatra Collection, etc.) followed by theme/genre, alphabetically (eg., Universal Classic Monsters, Warner's Ultimate Gangsters Collection and Musicals Collection, etc.)
