My predictions: Videodrome, Le Cercle Rouge (that is my secret release I'd like to happen), The Game (it is coming just not sure when)
I would guess they will have a title or two new to the DVD/ BD collection. My guesses are way off... but they are what I secretly want. Although I would secretly like a classic Paramount or United Artist title mixed in esp for a HD release. Thinking Don't Look Now... or IMAGES from Altman. I know I am reaching high haha |

Since it's been mentioned that some of Criterions old LD titles are starting to pop up on DVD and Blu-ray, I thought I'd post a list of Laser titles that never made it to the smaller disc. Obviously some of these titles are not too likely to come to Criterion Blu anytime soon (aka Ghostbusters). I whipped this list out quickly, so there might be mistakes.
Citizen Kane King Kong Swing Time High Noon Invasion of the Body Snatchers The Magnificent Ambersons Help! The Graduate It's a Wonderful Life Blade Runner A Hard Days Night Sabotage Secret Agent Young an Innocent The Asphalt Jungle 12 Angry Men A Night at the Opera Scaramouche Pygmalion The Producers Princess Bride Showboat North by Northwest Adam's Rib Blow Up Singin' in the Rain Forbidden Planet Zulu Darling The Wizard of Oz 2001 The Killing The Blob The Adventures of Robin Hood West Side Story Casablanca Some Like it Hot Ghostbusters Lawrence of Arabia Shampoo Miracle in Milan Annie Hall Jour de Fete The Great Escape La Gace Aux Folles Burn! Lolita Sex, Lies and Videotape Taxi Driver The Lacemaker King of Hearts Silverado Raging Bull The Big Chill Dr. No Close Encounters of the Third Kind Parade From Russia with Love Goldfinger Bad Day at Black Rock Here Comes Mr. Jordan Arsenic and Old Lace Lady for a Day Carnal Knowledge Carrie Dr. Strangelove The Adventures of Baron Munchausen Tootsie Midnight Cowboy Sunday Bloody Sunday The Fisher King Boyz N the Hood Akira Letters from an Unknown Woman Blackmail The Prince of Tides Jason and the Argonauts Jules and Jim Monty Python and the Holy Grail The Player Bram Stoker's Dracula Confidentially Yours Edward II Makioka Sisters Get Out Your Hankerchiefs Evergreen Polyester Salt of the Earth* Bodies, Rest & Motion Menace II Society Two English Girls The Last Laugh She's Gotta Have It Cat People The Woman Next Door Soft Skin David Holtzman's Diary Halloween Three Cases of Murder In Which We Serve Pulp Fiction Odd Man Out Once Were Warriors Atomic Cafe* Why Has Bodhi-Dharma Left For the East? Belle de Jour I am Cuba Se7en Tristana Waltz of the Torreadors Dead Presidents El Cid The Entertainer Swept Away The Return of Martin Guerre Sweet Sweetback's Baadassss Song Montenegto League of Gentlemen Crimes and Misdemeanors Purple Noon Trainspotting A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese through American Movies Supercop The Umbrellas of Cherbourg Shine The English Patient Evita Pink Flamingos Breaking the Waves Nostalghia Five Corners Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Crash Sling Blade Victim The Game Boogie Nights * quasi-Criterion releases There are some possibilities in there. As unlikely as it is, how wonderful would it be if Criterion got Annie Hall from a suffering MGM? |

If we are talking getting titles from MGM, Blue Velvet is at the top of my list.

I can't let myself believe that Criterion is working on The Game until it actually happens. Universal is releasing their ported garbage HD-DVD worldwide right now and I keep expecting that that's what we'll be stuck with as well when the title makes it stateside.

The Game is a Universal exclusive, and was already released on HD-DVD, which means they have HD rights to it, along with The Deer Hunter. Did CC buy the rights to it recently, or is this just speculation?

I have a feeling that the announcements is going to be small. That BBS set for DVD is in December, so I only see 2 titles, 3 max that will be announced. I just hope one is a surprise.

What an addition if CC picked up The Deer Hunter.

![]() As for the December releases, I guess it was too much to expect another monster month, so this is fine by me. I've never seen either of those films, so it'll be nice to not have to pre-order something once again. I am looking forward to renting both though. |
