I didn't ask him where he got the cut, but good lord was it in rough shape. I had never seen it before and all I wanted to do afterwards was pop in the Redux blu to get a better sense of those gorgeous visuals (and what I hope to be a better score as well.)

I wonder if there is any chance of Criterion re-releasing The Last Emperor with the television cut.

The good news is, if he ever drops a Blu-ray, it'll bounce right back up to him.

Blues is another I'd really love to dele into, all the way back to Robert Johnson.
I own over 1,000 CDs, and the vast majority of my collection consists of punk, synth-pop, and alternative music that was released between 1976 and 1990.

I've dabbled in classic jazz and blues from time to time and I have some classic rock stuff (everything that David Bowie has released on CD, The Beatles in Mono, The Rolling Stones in Mono, etc.), but I somehow keep going back to my catalogue of stuff from my glorious youth.

I've purchased two new CDs in 2017 so far: the new album from Depeche Mode and the new album from The Jesus and Mary Chain. Even most of my new purchases are from bands whom I loved back in my teenage years.

This summer, I'm going to see the "Retro Tour" when it stops here in Atlanta. Howard Jones, Men Without Hats, The English Beat, Katrina and the Waves, and Modern English. The following month, I'm going to see the Blondie/Garbage tour.
When I was a teenager, I used to make fun of old people like me who went to old people concerts like this. C'est la vie

One of my favorite quotes from the Simpsons:

[the teenagers Homer and Barney are doing an acapella version of "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" in front of a mirror]

Middle-aged Grampa: What the Hell are you two doin'?

Young Barney: It's called rockin' out!

Young Homer: You wouldn't understan', dad. You're not with it.

Middle-aged Grampa: I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you...

That last line always gets me. It's funny and extremely profound at the same time. It's incredible that a show from 20 years ago is still relevant today.

Can anyone speculate what is the likelihood of Criterion releasing more David Lynch on blu-ray? Any hints towards Elephant Man, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway or Straight Story?

Yeh but Flac isn't the standard, mp3 is, which is unfortunate because mp3's only really made sense in the dialup era. We are well beyond that now.

Yep, speculated to be added as an extra on a future Lynch release.

I have about 450 albums on CD now. Lots of progressive/symphonic rock and metal (Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Rush, Marillion, King's X, Symphony X, Spock's Beard, Flying Colors, Nightwish, Epica, Kamelot), 80s pop/rock (Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, the aforementioned Howard Jones, U2), lots of classic rock/pop (The Who, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, Heart, Aerosmith, Toto, Journey, Meat Loaf, James Taylor, Carole King, The Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac), plenty of metal/hard rock (Iron Maiden, Dio, Yngwie, Ozzy, Megadeth, Metallica, Dokken, Whitesnake, Blue Murder, ), R&B, hip hop and rapm or pop flavored with (Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Tribe Called Quest, Maxwell, PM Dawn, The Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Tupac, Biggie, LL Cool J, Outkast, Eminem, Missy Elliot, Aaliyah, Toni Braxton), modern (Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Mark Ronson), etc. I'm all over the place, musically. I like what's good, really.

You can dance if you want to. You can leave your friends behind. Your friends don't dance and if they don't dance, they might be walking on sunshine.

Why do mp3s no longer make sense?

If there was an ankle in the drawing with the pencil, I would guess The Evil Dead.

Actually, my parents installed this ridiculous neon green carpeting about 35 years ago in their home. So its circa-1982. I guess lime/neon green was "cool" or stylish back then.
