Ugh...my pre-orders of Rumble Fish and Tampopo "shipped" Monday so I would have them here by Tuesday (I'm 45 mins from the Amazon warehouse). Somehow the order was delayed and no tracking info is showing up. I have no idea if they went out or what's going on.
Meanwhile, the price for Rumble Fish dropped $2 from when it "shipped".
Now, Amazon refuses to give me the pre-order price guarantee of $23.93 vs. $25.84.

I think I'm going back to pre-ordering from Criterion at $31 and take the loyalty points.

Do a return and rebuy. The order is late and you're well within your rights to return it without incurring a fee.

Or complain about the late order via chat and get a free month of Prime or whatever bone they decide to throw you.

I really enjoyed the video. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it's easily one of my favorite films of all time.

I got shot down via chat. No bones. No price reduction.

The problem is the price only dropped one day and now it is back to what I paid. I've probably bought 700 films from Amazon so what bugs me is them balking on $2. It's not like it's a deal killer.

Amazon has gone from will do anything for the customer to bring kind of catty and difficult to work with.

Wow, loved this. Enthusiastic thumbs up!

I really need to watch White and Red. I'd originally planned on watching all three over a single weekend, but after watching the first film in the trilogy, I got sidetracked.

Juliette Binoche was fantastic in Blue. That first scene, especially, where she wakes up after the accident....her sense of loss was simply overpowering to watch as a viewer. The pain she conveyed in her eyes. Her body language. The survivor's guilt. For me, that performance cemented her stature as one of our greatest living actresses.

Doesn't work. I tried that, and they refused to waive the fee on my return. And I've bought a hell of a lot of films over the last two years.

It does if you go through the automated return process and pick a reason that doesn't incur a charge. You might not be able to be able to find the exact reason from their list of options, but I believe you can add an explanation below.

Unfortunately, since the price has gone back up, there's no point trying to return and rebuy it now.

Amazon's customer service isn't what it used to be. The problem is, these chat reps are following a script and are very inflexible. You do occasionally get lucky, but that's no longer the norm.

I would still complain about late delivery though and get a free month of Prime or whatever they give you.

My last return was a two-volume book set I bought from Amazon Warehouse Deals. You guessed it - I got got the second volume (or maybe it was the first? whatever...). Because it was AWD, they refused to exchange it or let me reorder it from Amazon proper for the reduced price I paid. I could understand if I had bought it from a random third-party, but I feel they should make a bad AWD experience right since it's the same damn company. It was a gift too, so that really pissed me off.

Absolutely. Her performance just rips your insides out. When I saw Three Colors: Blue I already had a very positive opinion of her, having seen Hail Mary, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and Damage. But this was like a whole different level, I thought.

And yes, you definitely must see White and Red -- as soon as is physically possible. Yesterday, if you can manage it.

Had a few service issues with Amazon over the years but thankfully always been resolved satisfactorily. Unlike B&N, who I have given up on.

The website is terrible, and on a number of occasions stopped recognising me as a member and would not apply the member free express shipping (not that it is express, which is a whole other matter). Recently, I went to order a coffee table book and was denied member free shipping on the grounds that the book was "oversized." All efforts to deal with B&N Customer Service were met with a wall of indifference.

I cancelled my membership, which will expire before the next Criterion sale. I'll miss the extra 10%, but with the recent coupon restrictions anyway, no big deal.

Naomi Watts, Laura Dern & Patricia Arquette tell stories about David Lynch.

I'll never get sick of Watts' impression of Lynch.

Watch White, then Red (in that order). White is really good, but Red is a god damn masterpiece. The best of the trilogy IMHO.

I could go back and forth on White or Red being my favorite.

Red is my favorite without question.

It's funny that I consider White to be the "weakest" yet it's still an excellent film. I guess that's what happens when Kieslowski driving the bus. What a genius.
