Just the title. Completely different stories.

He's saving babies and putting out fires.

Cool!! just make sure it's this one you order: ---> https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-T...lu-ray/130991/

... as there are multiple re-releases of previous disc (Digipack, Steelbook).

It would be great to have a local release of Belle de Jour's 4K resto.

Sadly from what we know... Criterion does not tend to update it's existing Blu-rays (incase of new HD masters, sound).

... Region A seems unlikely at present.

Besides, one could probably make the same accusation about Michelangelo Antonioni's "alienation trilogy", where we are expected to empathize with immaculate-looking bored socialites who all won the genetic lottery (Somehow, I always do empathize with them.). .)
Jesus, what a comparison! Honestly speechless right now. Lol.

I always thought Ferris was overrated as a kid in the 80s, but many 80s comedies now strike us as being less innocent than what they initially seemed. Even a film like Revenge of The Nerds merely reinforces the winner-takes-all 'message' of American culture, and that's before we get to the lack of consensual sex later in the film.

I do prefer the better 80s comedies to the ones made today though, and not only for nostalgic reasons

Yeah, you wouldn't want to do a sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" where ol' Ferris is a 40 year old a-hole taking "days off" to run off with the mistress, viewing poor people with complete contempt, and generally acting like an insufferably smug human being toward co-workers. Wouldn't be quite as charming as a grown man.

One of my favorite 80s comedies is "Bachelor Party". Tom Hanks is a ~30 year old BUS DRIVER who somehow has a great apartment and is pulling the 1984 version of Tawny Kitean. His buddy, Adrian Zmed, is a baby photographer who somehow has the cash to fund a bachelor party at a swanky hotel featuring multitudes of high-end hookers, blow, high-cost uppers and downers, a donkey show, and many other features. I do love that film though.

I hope Jennifer is wearing that dress from the Rocketeer.

Honestly, I only know Mia being in 3 films (Legend, Ferris & Timecop) plus that pretty awful Birds of Prey TV series

Speaking of Tom Hanks comedies, just another heads up for Joe Versus the Volcano fans: June 20th. June 20th. June 20th.

I had a re-watch of Punch-Drunk Love recently. I know not everyone in this thread loves this movie, but I have a hard time imagining someone watching this and not melting every time Emily Watson is on screen. Also, the way Jon Brion's music and Jeremy Blake's artwork work together to swing the movie back and forth between chaos and sublime calm is often beautiful.

I absolutely love everything thing about this movie. Definately my kind of film.

Jon Brion's score in Synecdoche New York is equally beautiful.

Well since CC already released blu rays of two of my three fav films (Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and Head) all I can really do in the thread is beg for Godard upgrades or Bergman upgrades. As for the Hughes debate, what the hell should they expect with a clue that direct? Sure it may be Sweet Sixteen, but the clue, objectivity leads one to the Hughes film more so than any clue I've ever seen from them.

Also, companies are often hush hush about what's in the pipeline, but are they also allowed to flat out say what ISN'T? Because if so I wish someone from CC would squash the 16 Candles rumor.

Agreed my friend. The only film of his I wasn't nuts about was Magnolia. Otherwise I love the rest of the films he's directed.
