Wild at Heart? Desert Hearts sounds more convincing, though.

Desert Hearts is playing at Frameline, the San Francisco LGBTQ film festival next month, and the "official website" of the film is listed as http://www.janusfilms.com, so I'd say that's pretty firm: https://www.frameline.org/festival/f.../desert-hearts

EDIT: also the film description includes this line: "Digital restoration by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and the Criterion Collection/Janus Films in conjunction with the Outfest UCLA Legacy Project and the Sundance Institute."

People have been speculating about Desert Hearts for a while now too... or maybe I'm confusing it with something else.

That seals it then.

(I'm admittedly not very good at the Criterion newsletter clues.)

EDIT: The cactus does seem to be flowering from the ground. Maybe it is the 1969 film, "Cactus Flower", with Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and Goldie Hawn.

Le Samourai tells the story of a man trapped in the existential desert of human isolation.

Much like a cactus, he is a quiet man who says little and moves only when necessary. He is a man with sharp edges who can draw blood if his adversaries get too close.

He lives by a code...the code of the wasteland.

This clue could not be any clearer.

...it's almost too obvious.

So the answer is no.
Just wondering: Would it actually make sense for Criterion to adopt 4k releases in the future? Due to the relatively low adaption rate so far it wouldn't make sense for them at this time but would their films actually benefit from 4k on a "normal" sized home TV (40-55").

I was thinking Buster Gonad: The Movie.

This is correct. IndieWire already confirmed the Criterion release months ago.

Man that's a loaded question. Just depends on many things. How they grade the HDR, which format of it they use, etc. I would say they are definately in the waiting game. And honestly I'm no 4k tech expert.
