I currently like Zodiac the best. But he's one of the best modern 'mainstream' filmmakers out there...there are 4 or so movies of his that one can justify as being a favorite.

May be waaaay advanced notice, but heads up:

UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD (The Director's Cut) will be on TCM in the 2am-7am slot on Sunday July 23rd (so technically, the morning of July 24th).

Highly highly recommended while we wait for the inevitable Criterion. Movie is excellent.

oh, I hardly ever read reviews of films, never watch trailers (unless at the cinema) and only read magazine articles AFTER I've seen the film. I like to go in with a fresh mind, not knowing anything given away

Alright, gang, from the horse's mouth (or in this case, from my friend at the BN I used to work in):

Criterion sale starts JULY 11TH. Plan accordingly. (I just sent a follow-up text about when it'll end, but I'm assuming July 31st).

There is no way for the store employees to know about whether or not the coupons will be accepted on Criterion titles this time around, but there was A LOT of negative feedback from this particular store to the corporate offices when they were forced to decline additional discounts last November. My aforementioned friend was actually still accepting the coupons for the first week or so (because he thought the restriction was stupid) when he was strictly reprimanded to stop, so who knows what it'll be like this time.

Odd that Criterion seems to have separate A&B discs even for dual-territory releases. Seems to me a little wasteful to have separate disc runs, unless they expect sufficiently large sales in each region.

I'm going to assume no more coupons unless one get's a friendly cashier. As a result...I will be playing this sale as it's my one last score via barnes n noble. One more job before I retire...

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to use an online coupon recently for their 40% blu sale, so I'm hoping that holds for the impending Criterion one.

Bah! I had this small hope it would start July 4 even though I knew that was unlikely, I'm not even sure if they are open lol. I have that week off so I was going to BINGE. Oh well, not the worst thing in the world. I've got plenty of other titles to watch.

Who knows what will happen with coupons, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm planning on nothing working, so if something works then it's just icing on the cake.

They should be open on the 4th, just as a side note. As far as I know, the only two company wide days off are Christmas and Thanksgiving.
