Okay. You talked me into it.

Well, you talked me into buying it (in November, probably) anyway. Whether it ever makes it from the shelf to the player is anybody's guess.

I'm good for Rebecca and The Piano Teacher.

...although the thought of double-dipping on Hitchcock Blu-rays that are already pretty good sort of breaks my heart.

More Michael Haneke is quite good.

That's exactly how feel about it. But it's Rebecca, so it didn't take long for me to talk myself into it.

I kinda thought W&L was just your bog-standard "nothing happens" indie movie the first time I saw it. I loved it the second time around, though. I can understand not digging it, especially since it's very of-its-era, but I also think it's worth another go. It sneaks up on ya...

See, I would watch Michelle Williams hang wallpaper (and I'm a gay man, so it's not for why you're thinking). I enjoyed the first story well enough, really enjoyed the second story, and was completely meh on the third (I've yet to see the light re:Kristen Stewart, so...). But I also know from experience (cf. above) that Reichardt grows on me with repeat viewings.

I saw it in theaters, so I can't say I remember particulars, but anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing CW again...

Festival for me; This is a time capsule for me - music from my era. I already own Rebecca on blu, but I might pick the Criterion release up when it's on sale.

Wendy and Lucy is less about the script and more about how it's shot, how it's edited, its "mise en scene". Now, I'm not saying the script isn't important, just that taken alone it's not a unique story. It's a slow burn. I really like it. There are shots in it that have stayed with me just after the 1st viewing.

As far as adding more female directors to the Criterion collection, I hope they consider Mia Hansen-Løve in the future. She's directed 5 films since 2008 so she's fairly prolific, and, in my opinion, someone who has been consistent in quality and sensibility.

Dawson's Creek was actually really good until they ran out of ideas and it became a bad soap.

The new 2 disc blu of Rebecca is being offered by Criterion's site for the price of their single disc releases. Not sure that's happened before with other 2 blu-disc sets.

It wasn't a bad soap in the beginning?

I watched a ton of those shows back in the day. Melrose Place, 90210, The O.C...

My favorites were the trashy ones that didn't take themselves seriously, so Melrose Place and The O.C. were more my speed. Dawson's Creek never appealed to me as much. Everwood was OK-- I dug that the main character was an anime fan. I want to say I'm surprised Chris Pratt got so big...but his everyman quality was always a big part of his appeal and you could see that already in Everwood.

I stopped watching those kind of shows by the time Gossip Girl started.

Nice to see more Hitchcock and more modern films from the CC... Too bad Rebecca has already been released on BD on a pretty decent disc from MGM. The double dipping on the MGM titles is getting a little old from CC, but everyone has to make a buck somehow. Too bad these double dips will not be taking my buck. For anyone that doesn't have it, looks to be a winner.

It's nearly impossible for me to get tempted by Rebecca after scoring this Hitchcock 3-pack set for $15 last year:

Not to mention that the (MGM) Rebecca standalone disc has been spotted at places like 7-Eleven for $5 in the past.
