Agree wholeheartedly. Nothing against the John Hughes films (which I already have on Blu), but there are a lot of other filmmakers I'd much prefer to see a box set for. For example, I'd love to see a David Mamet box set (including upgrades for House Of Games and Homicide, and they can throw in Things Change and The Spanish Prisoner while they're at it).

Maybe if Criterion builds a great relationship with Romero, then they could be the ones to get Dawn of the Dead back in print.

I would be so happy if my Anchor Bay 4 DVD Dawn of the Dead set had a Blu ray Criterion Collection companion. I would whisper sweet nothings to those discs all night long.

I would love to see more Preston Sturges and Pedro Almodóvar films on Blu-ray.

When I read that, part of me was thinking "what an absolute weirdo"....

.... the other part was thinking "now, do we put the 4 disc AB on our left side and Criterion on the right, or the other way around?"

Criterion bringing more of both of those filmmakers' films would be welcome. It seems that in the case of Almodóvar, there's a bit more available to import (including a massive French set), but it would be nice if Criterion got their hands on more of his work.

I know a lot of you are holding your breath for a Criterion release so we can finally see that rumored longer cut. However, I'd like a Criterion release because I honestly find the PQ on the existing Blu-ray to be quite mediocre. A 4K transfer would be superb.

Still the best film of 2011.
THE TREE OF LIFE was finished as a 4K DI, so any Criterion release would be based off the same DI as the original Blu-ray, plus the additional footage for the extended cut.

There is no reason to "hold your breath". It is coming eventually. I met Malick at a screening of Journey to Italy this past October and asked if a longer cut was coming from Criterion and he confirmed that it was.

Romero doesn't own the rights to Dawn of the Dead, Richard P. Rubenstein does, and has been notorious for asking high prices for it, and just did a pricey transfer to 3D.

I'm sure Romero would've had a Blu-Ray out as soon as he could if he could!

Any recommendations? I tend to like noir, timeless classics, and horror. I tend to NOT like French new-wave, sports movies, or rom-coms.

That is quite the steal.

I watched it via a TCM recording a week or so ago.

I was vaguely familiar with the story from my high school days, and while I didn't really know what the characters were talking about until after I read a summary of the film, I have to say I did find it to be particularly good. Same can be said about Chimes at Midnight, and I'm not much of an Old English, Welles, or Shakespeare fan.

Old English seems to have been eclipsed by Paul Masson and Wild Irish Rose as the brown bagged beverage of choice.

The Lady Eve would be a good candidate for a BluRay release.
