Speaking of Frankenheimer, a couple of his films I'd love to see released are "All Fall Down", featuring Angela Lansbury, Karl Malden, Eva Marie Saint, and a young Warren Beatty and "The Fixer", featuring a brilliant performance by Alan Bates. They bookended his great 60s run that featured "Seconds", "The Manchurian Candidate", "Seven Days in May, "The Train", "Birdman of Alcatraz". That run was abruptly ended by the legendarily awful "The Extraordinary Seaman".

It's not Frankenheimer but I wish Criterion would release Advise & Consent from Otto Preminger. It's a film long overdue for a BluRay release which is also I believe in Criterion's niche

Then again, when it comes to technical questions I'm pretty much the last person anyone wants to ask. I just don't discern things all that precisely ... or well. ![]() |

Every time I think of Studio Canal I think of the films they're holding hostage. Bob le Flambeur, for instance. Not available on BR in any region. It'd be one thing if they chose to release an acceptable BR themselves but they have not.

I'm right there with you. I recently discovered that the U.K. release of Terminator 3 uses the AVC codec and TrueHD 5.1 audio, supposedly making for better PQ/AQ since the U.S. uses VC-1 and standard 5.1. So for $8 dollars I made a purchase. I couldnt tell a difference. Talk about pissing my money away. I could have bought a big mac meal. I love big macs. I also love Terminator 3. Yup.

Two of my favorite films, not just Godard films, films in general. This is like a King Solomon situation. ![]() They're different tonally (up to a point). Band of Outsiders is loaded with iconic scenes and images, that's for sure. But if you want pretty much all Anna all the time, then go with Vivre sa vie. But like I said, you really can't go wrong. You'll end up with both eventually, anyways. ![]() |

It looked pretty clear. I have nothing to compare their print with, but their work on silents is usually pretty strong so I'd imagine it would look quite good on disc. When it's never released. |
