I have to post a complaint unfortunately. I recently watched my Criterion copy of Mulholland Dr. due to the new remastered Studio Canal release coming out and I was very disappointed with the amount of artifacts and poor compression on the Criterion release. I always thought it looked great but since finding out about this new release I really noticed how problematic the Criterion release is. From the looks on the screencaps the Studio Canal release corrects those issues. What's up with that Criterion?

Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels will be released on FilmStruck on July 21.
These WKW rumors are looking very promising. ![]() |

I just got home from a screening of Le Deuxieme Souffle and absolutely loved it—dare I say, more than Le Samourai (though I am really looking forward to seeing that again). I hear all y'all clamoring for a Le Samourai upgrade but I can't wait for LDS now... Have there been any hints for it anywhere worldwide?

Well, I'd planned on Yojimbo/Sanjuro, Jeanne Dielman and Woman of the Year from the B&N sale. I ended up buying all three from Amazon. So, for me, at least, Amazon has stolen some business. Not a huge windfall for them, obviously, but if this phenomenom is duplicated with any of their other customers, we could see future aggressive price drops. Good for us all.

I'm probably missing the obvious, but is there a way to see exactly what Filmstruck has in it's full library? Everything I've tried wants me to first create an account with the 14 day free trial and I really don't want to do that. Prior to the streaming change to Filmstruck, you could look at a title on Criterion's site and it noted if it was on Hulu. I don't see that with Filmstruck.

There's a Library link at the bottom of the page. I'm curious if there's a way to see what's in HD or not, tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I come here for some Naruse recommendations. I watched When a Woman Ascends the Stairs this morning and was so immediately floored. It had the kind of delicate touch reminiscent of Ozu but remained its own voice throughout. I was most taken by its conviction with the woman herself, who was given such depth and honesty in treatment that it made for such a startling critique for modern depiction.
I have a 14 day trial (on day 2) for Filmstruck and plan on taking advantage on what they have to offer. For those familiar with Naruse, here's what's available: [Show spoiler] It's certainly an overwhelming selection, so I'm trying to limit with the essentials during this window and work my way from there. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. |

I just finished watching Heart of a Dog. That was the longest 75 minutes of my film-watching life. I'm very happy I did not blind-buy this during the Criterion sale earlier this year. I hope the creation of the film was cathartic for Anderson because it did absolutely nothing for me.
