Since we have such similar tastes, you might check my collection for suggestions. The link is at the bottom of this post.
Thanks, I added a few more to my wishlist. Looks like you're a Dream Theater fan too, they're my favorite band and Petrucci is biggest influence as a guitarist.

My planning has consisted of "Oh, this title looks interesting!" and I still have no damn clue what to get even with the suggestions on here

Hey All.

I've been gone a long freaking time and a lot of you might not remember me. Going to try to be less of a stranger.

Anyway, with the Amazon sale recently, probably skipping Barnes and Noble sale this year. pretty much already have the ones I want.

So any thoughts on what will be Spine 900?

Here's my collection: https://www.criterion.com/my_criteri...?sort_by=title

Here are some I'm considering buying:
The New World
Heaven's Gate
Anatomy Of A Murder
Stalker
Roberto Rossellini's War Trilogy
L'argent
Straw Dogs
His Girl Friday
Band Of Outsiders
Blind Chance
"Band of Outsiders" is the only film on that list I'm not a big fan of to be honest. I haven't seen "L'argent". But all of the others are great IMO. Definitely going to pick up "The War Trilogy", "Straw Dogs", and "Stalker" during the upcoming sale.

"Band of Outsiders" is a film I've never really liked. It's stylish, but I never found that point where I could connect to it in any way, unlike some other Godard films. Godard intentionally isolates the viewer in many of his films and challenges him or her to find a point of connection. In a lot of his films, I do find that connection. I have never been able to find it in "Band of Outsiders". But a lot of people love it, so certainly don't be put off by my assessment. The other films I've seen on your list, I wholeheartedly enjoy.

Welcome back, buddy!

Still collecting the entire collection?

I would assume Night of the Living Dead (which would imply five new titles in October) or something David Lynch (which I assume we'll see in November).

I think I've narrowed down my shortlist on what I want in this sale (alphabetical order) (everything is/would be a blind buy):

8 1/2
12 Angry Men
Eraserhead
Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Great Dictator
Ghost World
A Hard Day's Night
On the Waterfront
Paths of Glory
Persona
Seven Samurai
Sweet Smell of Success

Now I have to figure out what my budget is and what combo of films to get. I don't want to spend too much at once because the flash sale is in two or three months, but I want a lot of stuff!

Lost Highway would be terrific! I think probably The Grand Budapest Hotel.

So far I have most of the Blu-Rays, but not all. I think I'm missing 3-4.

I was thinking that too. 4 new titles + an upgrade will mean 900 is in November. Just in time for the next sale.

Criterion is going to start doing some crazy shit when 900 rolls around. They will do a 900.5 for "9 1/2 Weeks" and then do a 900.5 (2.0) for "Another 9 1/2 Weeks".

I expect spin 900 to be a Fox catalog title. Going to be either the Tree of Life or The Grand Budapest Hotel.

When do these sales begin? At like 12:01am? Or when the stores would normally open?

The trial for Filmstruck on Roku isn't even worth it at this point. It always restarts the device towards the end of the movie, forcing me to (very slowly) fast forward to the desired point. Ugh, so frustrating.

But that selection..

Seriously though, going by their past track record (Life Aquatic & Fantastic Mr Fox)I think it will be GBH & #1000 will be Citzen Kane
